Here is a link to B&N in-store only member coupons. The first two ($5 off $50 and $5 off one DVD) are valid through July 25.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/email/...1512-_-Primary

I was able to use the $5 off one DVD coupon in store for all my purchases during the last sale. I went to 3 different B&N stores and only one did not accept the coupon for a criterion.

Are you supposed to get these coupons sent in e-mails if you're a member? I signed up for a membership a couple of weeks ago, and haven't received any coupons e-mailed since around that time. I know my membership is active from logging onto to their website.

It's weird, because I used to get a ton of offers/coupons e-mailed from them prior to becoming a member.

Thanks for the link!

I JUST received Everlasting Moments from NetFlix today and hope to watch it tomorrow night. I'm trying to rent as many titles as I have possible interest in purchasing from B & N next week...though from the reviews and feedback from others, I've got a feeling that I will likely buy Everlasting Moments.

I streamed the English version of The Leopard and was pretty satisfied with the film itself...I will likely buy this one as well, if for any other reason, than to watch it, in it's native language (Italian) and to see the supposed stark difference in PQ from the English version. Got a feeling that this one will be a beaut! It's a shame that the BD version is STILL not available to rent on NetFlix.
Thanks for the reply! I actually did not watch either one last night and will probably blindly grab one to watch tonight. Looks like you are going to be buying Everlasting Moments & The Leopard!

Watched Everlasting Moments tonite--it very well be my favorite Criterion film on blu, although I love 400 Blows, 8 1/2, Last Year at Marienbad, and others. It's a phenomenal film and shot unlike any I've seen recently.

My review for it is in the review/rate thread under the movies section, one page back, if you're interested.

It's an exceptional film, incredibly photographed and filmed (it's jaw-dropping how much it looks like old photographs at times). It is the single best example I've seen yet on blu of a film looking EXACTLY how the director intended it to look; the transfer is incredible. Revanche was nominated for an Oscar over it, and while I like that film quite a bit, this is the better film.

I reactivated my Netflix account and did a sampling of the following movies last night:

Che
Playtime
The Third Man
Yojimbo

Out of those, I am most interested in picking up Che. Will have to give the others a complete viewing.

Will try to preview the following this weekend:
The Wages of Fear
The 400 Blows
Wings of Desire
8 1/2
Paris, Texas

It's def a pretty cool cover, as most Criterions are. I still prefer the other cover, simply because of its thematic importance, but this will do.

And the "Charade" page has been updated to indicate that the blu-ray will be losing a supplement that is on the DVD.

Quote:
• Restored high-definition digital transfer (with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition)
• Audio commentary featuring Stanley Donen and screenwriter Peter Stone
The Films of Stanley Donen: A selected filmography, with an introduction by Donen biographer Stephen M. Silverman (DVD edition only)
• Original theatrical trailer
• English subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired
• PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by film historian Bruce Eder

Good choice on Che...you won't be disappointed!

Wings of Desire was quite good and Paris, Texas was GREAT!...better choice of the two.

400 Blows and 8 1/2 are must owns imo. Wages of Fear is disappointing bc the characters lack sympathy, which although purposeful by the director seems to be a major misstep considering the story. Wings of Desire is beautifully written and poetic, but I just didn't feel engaged with the story. I would highly recommend Summer Hours, Everlasting Moments, and Days of Heaven.

Yet one more reason for people to stop believing cover-art posted by random bloggers or "people in the know" from some forum.......

Waiting for Criterion to post it, is the only Criterion news that I believe
