LOL!!! Too funny!!! Now THERE is an idea.

I only wish I that kind of scratch laying around.

Seriously though, I can't stop laughing at the idea of someone doing that.

Oh man, avoid the internet and hide your credit cards when drunk. As Robin Williams pointed out, you will find yourself up to your ass in Foreman Grills and and Shamwows.

I agree with this. Part of the fun in buying movies (for me anyway) is that they have a personal value. Once you start buying them just to buy them, it kind of diminishes the whole collection. In a weird way (and maybe I'm over thinking this), the movies you own should tell a story about who you are (or who you want to be). I'd rather have a collection of 10 films that I LOVE than 500 that I just kinda like.

Speaking of movies I love, CassavetesGodard, I remember you saying that you were a big fan of PT Anderson's Punch Drunk Love. If my avatar didn't give it away already, I am too. They've had a pre-order up on Amazon for it forever now, but there's still no signs of a release date. Do you know what's going on with that? Are they still releasing it, or what? If anybody else that has some info on this, I would really appreciate it.

Well, I have decided to go ahead and give it a shot, regardless.

Still not sure if that's a good idea...

Anyway, I picked up How to get ahead in advertising on e-bay for $35.99 after shipping. It's opened but the description says MINT and the seller has 100% feedback...Hope it's good.

Done that too many times in the past, just want to say it's not a good idea, when you see the bill, well let's just say it's not good for the heart

Looking forward to Seven Samurai, never seen the movie before & was going to get the DVD version until I noticed the blu-ray will be slightly cheaper so I'll get that I was pretty impressed by Yojimbo & Sanjuro

Sony is supposed to be working on it, with Anderson's involvement (at least that's good), but we stopped hearing about it a while ago.

I pre-ordered The Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes on the first official day of the B&N sale (7/13/10) and I got an e-mail today saying that my order had been delayed. Anyone else get this message? On a happier note, I've got plenty of movies from the sale to keep me occupied. Watched Everlasting Moments last night and it was incredible. Tonight The Complete Monterey Pop Festival will get a workout.

I didn't pre-order online, but I did order a copy of each in-store last week. The employee showed me the computer that said there were over 600 copies of them in the closest warehouse but neither one showed up yesterday at the store for some reason. So, who knows what goes on within their picking & shipping system?

Criterion took the money for the cases. Does that usually mean they shipped out the replacement cases?

Got this e-mail today.
nfortunately, the merchandise listed below has been further delayed.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to fulfill your order soon. To keep your order open, we must have your approval for a 30-Day Order Extension. Unfortunately, if we don't get approval from you for the extension within the next 24 hours, we'll have to cancel this part of your order.

To approve a 30-Day Order Extension, follow these easy steps:
1. Go to https://cart4.barnesandnoble.com/acc...e=orderStatus& and sign in under View Order History.
2. Click on the order number.
3. Click on the "I Still Want This" link next to each item.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay.

Not necessarily. It means you'll want to e-mail within the next week or so to check on the order.

I placed an order for cases and they sent me an e-mail telling me they shipped the next day. Last time I did an order it took a few days, this time it was almost immediate. But in both cases they sent an e-mail when they shipped.

Has anyone viewed their copy of Close-up yet? I'm interested in hearing reactions.

CG, here is the Michael Cera thing I was was talking about (You can imagine what the white boxes are covering ).

Thats the EXACT plot of a screenplay I'm working on...

Close up looks great (given the source) and it has a good amount of supplemental features, including a short by Abbas and another film on Mr. impersonator. The essay is also one of the better ones...

Basically, I'd say buy it.

It means that they are in the midst of restocking your title, probably due to demand greater than supply. If you want it and still want to wait you have to tell them; if you don't get back to them that part of your order gets cancelled.

Or it could be the title you want is no longer available (was it one of the out of print titles?). In which case they will keep trying if you tell them to, but don't bet on actually getting a copy, you might want to try looking elsewhere in the meantime. Again, you have to tell them to keep looking (by following the directions they provided in that email) otherwise they will cancel that item from your order.

Oh, and you better hurry, because you only had 24 hours to tell them to keep trying... If you wait for them to respond to your emails, you will probably miss the boat.
