Me too. Here, I'll help get us back into better grounds. Here's a link to what Criterion will be presenting at "All Tomorrow's Parties", including quite a few MGM titles that Criterioncast seem to think may make their way into the collection. Enjoy! I'm off to work.

Of the back catalog films I'd like to see in Blu most are as follows. And I'm only going by the list of films not out of print on DVD and not already out on Blu. Don't know if Criterion has Blu-Ray rights to these.

3. The Lady Vanishes
4. Amarcord
17. Salo
29. Picnic at Hanging Rock
33. Nanook of the North
34. Andrei Rublev
43. Lord of the Flies
51. Brazil
56. The 39 Steps
63. Carnival of Souls
86. Eisenetein: The Sound Years
116. The Hidden Fortress
123. Gray Gardens
133. The Vanishing
134. Haxan
138. Rashoman
159. Red Beard
164. Solaris
190. Throne of Blood
221. Ikaru
231. The Testament of Dr. Mabuse
249. The Battle of Algiers
277. My Own Private Idaho
300. The Life Aquatic
334. Harlan County USA
385. Army of Shadows
411. Berlin Alexanderplatz
437. Vampyr
459. The Exterminating Angel
464. Danton
480. The Human Condition

I love his first cover. I do like the cover Criterion went with but Kndy's first cover looks far better IMO.

I also love the one EricJ posted a page back done by someone on CriterionForum. But yeah, I like the Criterion one, and was just making fun of it with my custom one. Like a High Times Magazine cover, if they still make those.

First reaction was, "PLEASE let that not be Criterion's 'Head' cover if it gets a single release... "
(And you just know they'd do it, too.)

And tuning in late, but I assume it's all but confirmed that we'll get that MGM-rescued "The Killing" down the road, since its one of the three Warner doesn't own?

...What, no "Magic Flute"??

And does Criterion even remember their Public-Domain Rescues, like "Charade", "My Man Godfrey", "39 Steps" and the WC Fields shorts?

Can someone tell me the url to Wishlist on Criterion's site? I can't access it ever since they changed the site, because the Criterion logo keeps blocking the wishlist part of my account. Thanks.

I thought it would be Criterion.com/wishlist or something but it isn't.

Edit: Thanks, but no thanks. I finally found something that worked. Instead of "wishlist", it's "wishes".

I'd imagine they do since Charade is coming to blu in a month or two.

The winner of the forum thread, by common consent, btw:

(Seriously, even if the DVD release already used http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1448908800/tt0027977 , that still would've legally allowed Criterion to use http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3949041664/tt0027977 , which was the "true" remembered shot anyway.)
NICE Eric! Yours might be on the top of my list...for now.

Do you think there's any chance of them releasing Altman's 'Short Cuts' on Blu-ray? They did a superb DVD edition and I'm sure a Criterion Blu-ray edition would look amazing. We still have very little Altman on Blu-ray - only MASH and (soon) The Player have made it so far.

Other titles I'd like to see from Criterion would be:

The Ice Storm
The King Of Comedy
Miller's Crossing
Barton Fink
Badlands
Missing
Taking Off
Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here
Sunset Boulevard
Ace In The Hole
Some Like It Hot
The Apartment
If....
This Sporting Life
Two Lane Blacktop
The Shooting
Ride In The Whirlwind
any of Wes Anderson's earlier films

I would like to see:

All About Lily Chou Chou

Love Exposure

The Wayward Cloud

as these have either a very poor NA release or none at all. As far as older criterion titles being upgraded Im happy with whatever they give us. If I dont want it I wont buy it. I would like to many older titles to name to come out. But I think that Kwaidan and the Olivier Shakespeare adaptations would benefit greatly from it.

And since Criterion has still been unable to get rights to any Greenway I just placed my order for the BFI A Zed and Two Noughts (its region free :] )

(sigh)...We were THAT close to getting Kwaidan when they did the survey--
But noooo, everyone helped out by saying "I haven't seen any of them, but Remains of the Day is the one I've heard of! "

(Film literacy is fundamental. )

Criterion can afford to go easy on Anderson for the time being with Darjeeling due in November.

Now if they were to release a Wilder blu-ray set (And i Rarely use that icon!)

It would be a good star to 2011 if Criterion release these on Blu-ray for me

Eisenetein: The Sound Years
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Throne of Blood
The Hidden Fortress

I know chances are very low but I can dream
