Just finished watching my copy that came from Amazon this afternoon. I have to say this is one of the best Criterion releases I've seen in quit a while (which is no small achievement!). Both the picture and sound are astounding....reference quality! I love how it says "Director Terrence Malik recommends The Thin Red Line be played LOUD" right before you hit play from the menu. I couldn't agree with that more.

In a joke, a couple weeks ago I was thinking of having a Spielberg avatar. One where he was holding his hands in a thinking position. Most likely wouldn't be hard to find.

I really did try to find an pic for my avatar with both E.T. in it and Spielberg making an arrogant hand gesture to no avail. Oh well.

Looks like E.T. is making love to him though.

Not sure if anyone has checked out the booklet that comes with The Thin Red Line but there is an excellent article included written back in 1963 titled "Phony War Films" by the James Jones who wrote the book this film is based on. It basically blasts Hollywood for it's aweful representations of war in film. Weird thing is the article is almost a half century old and still makes complete sense today.

The Thin Red Line picked it up today. Criterion does a nice package. Clear blu-ray box, no DVD copy and no digital copy nicely done and director approved transfer. All blu-ray should be like this.

There is an interesting article that was published recently in which Mr. Malick reveals that he is a hardcore Green Bay Packers fan.

I live in North America, but I would have to go region free If I didn't. Criterion makes too good of a product for me to not have it in my collection.

I'm pretty sure that they still do, but I don't think Criterion is shipping them internationally anymore. You could always contact Criterion's customer service and seek the truth.
