I grabbed The Human Condition this evening since I had a 25% off coupon with me. Came close to getting it during the last sale, but passed on it. I've read a few reviews and it sounds like something I'll enjoy. Just wondering if anyone here has seen it and if so, what your thoughts were on the film?

Is that Night of the Hunter set blu sized or bigger?

I love my Seven Samurai but it's just slightly bigger than blu cases which is kind of annoying.

to me it looks like it'll be the same size as Seven Samurai and Breathless and, for that matter, The Leopard.

Criterion may not be able to pry away Annie Hall or Manhattan but I don't think studios are in a rush to issue blu-rays for gems like Deconstructing Harry, Stardust Memories, Another Woman, Interiors, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Bananas, Sleeper, Manhattan Murder Mystery.

I know there aren't many Woody fans in this thread and/or haven't seen much of his work but I trust many of you would give him a chance if more of his films were on blu-ray. To date, Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Whatever Works are the only two on Blu-ray (both look very good).

Here's hoping someone picks up the ball and gets more of his films in HD!
Woody hates special features. In fact, I read an interview with him promoting his new movie where he said he has never even rewatched one of his films, so any commentaries are out of the question. Criterion would never release a disc that contradicts what the director wants, so any discs would be released bare bones, without any features at all. I love Woody -- he's my favorite living director -- but I would hate to pay the premium for a Criterion disc when there would be nothing extra. MGM can put a great transfer out for Manhattan, Annie Hall, etc.

Bottle Rocket
Charade
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Darjeeling Limited
House
Kagemusha
Sanjuro
The Seven Samurai
The Thin Red Line
Yojimbo

So far they are excellent I plan on getting Cronos, Modern Times, and The BBS collection in the next month

I love the side slide-out packaging. Anyone have pics of the Modern Times packaging?

Nice!

The Thin Red Lion... Kegmusa?

I reserved a copy of TTRL at the Natomas store and their next shipment comes in tomorrow, so I'm stoked about that! I'll probably blind buy Seven Samurai as well, then I'm done for this sale.

Sorry, I was playing games and only typing between wait periods and totally missed my own typos Thanks Tbizzle

I actually got my copies of Charade, Bottle Rocket, and The Darjeeling Limited at the Natomas store when I was down there last week for a concert at Arco, so it was a win-win that night

Not necessarily. They lived in a world which was ruled by such a being, where God didn't create man, but the antichrist did, thus people thrive on chaos and are dependent on violence and what not.

The BBS set is $73 at B&N. With the library link it can be had for $66 (51% off).

Their system doesn't let me stack any voucher with the library link but a bargain all the same.

Pictures have been posted a time or two in the forum. If you do a search, I'm sure you'll find them.

Do you know if they charge when shipped or right away? I haven't ever pre-ordered anything from B&N.com.

EDIT: Nvm. Found the answer.

FYI to anyone interested..... I searched "BBS STORY" and only the DVD set came up...... to find the Blu-ray version, I just searched "Lost and Found" and it was one of the top 5 or 6 listed. Odd

Also... thanks for this... I'm going to order it, and hope they fulfill it

EDIT:

Time to keep refreshing Criterion's website now

Well, Terence Malick does'nt do a commentary an any of his films, yet Criterion has two of his titles out. They could have commentaries by film historians or other cast and crew members on a film like Woody's "Annie Hall" for example.
