Usually they do. Your "likely shipping date" will be the actual release date, but usually 1-2 weeks before you'll get a dispatch notice.
Their prices aren't great (especially compared to a B&N 50% off sale), but occasionally they'll have a free shipping promotion.

Well, I currently ordered Videodrome from Amazon, and I know I'll get that on the release date, which is fine with me. I'll have to start looking at Axel Music from now on with future purchases. Thanks.

About 90% of the time I order from Criterion.com. (Prime is just way too expensive, not too mention Amazon's prices haven't been the best, and B&N is only good during the 50% sales) Everything is usually mailed out UPS or USPS Priority the Friday before release day and arrive on the Tuesday, if not the Monday before.

"Classic Comedic Masterpiece"

Plot (Criterion): Modern Times, Charlie Chaplin's last outing as the Little Tramp, puts the iconic character to work as a giddily inept factory employee who becomes smitten with a gorgeous gamine (Paulette Goddard). With its barrage of unforgettable gags and sly commentary on class struggle made almost a decade struggle during the Great Depression Modern Times-though made almost a decade into the talkie era and containing moments of sound (even song!)-is a timeless showcase of Chaplin's untouchable genius as a director of silent comedy.

My Take: This is an amazing piece of work, Charlie Chaplin is a genius and this film is something. No wonder this film holds its spot within movie making history. To tell you the truth i didnt know what to expect from this film. I've never ever watched a silent film before so and all honesty i though it would've been boring. Oh was i wrong I loved every minute of this film. From the outrageous humor to the subliminal messages about Poverty, Work Strikes, Hits on politics, The Great Depression, Ford, and most of all the adaptation of the "machine". Its a brilliant comedy that will keep anyone laughing no matter the age.

Conclusion: This is a Masterpiece and well done. I will never forget this film as long as i have a stable memory. A film that entertains any viewer and connect along the lines of subliminal messages for the more advance viewers. Charlie Chaplin put his all into this film. The sets are unforgettable and the ideals are unheard of. This is a piece of work that any movie view should take full advantage of. MUST SEE BOTTOM LINE.

Totally agree! It's good to see music being made without auto tuned vocals and completely computerized digital beats. Too bad mainstream media suppresses actual talent. The day Good Things was released, I had to check 6 stores in my area to find it, B&N being the only place in town to actually have it in stock.

I just received my copy of The Night of the Hunter, and I couldn't be happier. I paid about $27.00 for my copy, but if I missed out on the sale price I would have purchased my copy for the regular price. Imo when Night of the Hunter goes oop, prices are going to skyrocket and with good reason. I'm saving my copy for Christmas, but I can always watch it on netflix again. It's def. not as good,

but it'll do.

Finally got my Modern Times in! Problem is, it's at my home, and I'm in college, so I can't watch it for a few weeks. I can wait though. Next: The Thin Red Line. Should be here by Thursday.
