In regards to Criterion's 'Gift Guide' newsletter this week...

I wrote to inquire about how "custom" the Jason Polan artwork would be for spend $150 or more. Here is my original e-mail plus Criterion's response that I received this morning.

Quote:
Hello, I received the 'gift guide' newsletter yesterday and was curious as to just how "custom" the drawing from Jason Polan (for purchases of $150 or more) will be? Will the drawing be for a film title in the Criterion Collection? If so, will the customer be able to choose which film title for his/her "custom" drawing, or will it be decided by Mr. Polan? Thanks.

Thanks for your email!
We are going to do our very best to accommodate special requests, so if you have a specific wish, you are more than welcome to email me with your order number and request! If we don't receive a specific request from you, Jason will most likely draw an illustration inspired by your order!

Hope this helps and please keep me posted if you have a specific request! Thanks for supporting Criterion!

Best,

Karen

Well, the tires are the things on your car that make contact with the road. The car is the thing on the road that takes you back to your abode. And since there is so much snow on the ground, he will probably be stuck in his abode, perusing the forums. All day.

Haha. Didn't even think of that one, but it would be interesting, I'm sure.

I wonder a movie like Cinema Paradiso (one of my favorites) would benefit from the Criterion treatment. What do you think?

Miramax controlled (or was) :/

I'd be all for it. Love the film.

I don't really see it fitting the Criterion ideology either...

What is this Criterion ideology? I'd say this is a better fit than some of the more mainstream movies that they sometimes release.

Ditto on the awesome 3-2-1 Contact image. Excellent stuff.

I'm mid-way through The Night of the Hunter--had to stop it last night because I was getting waaay too tired to continue. I really need to learn to not start movies at 11pm. Anyway, I'm having a grand olde time thus far and can't wait to finish it tonight.

I'd say it's too sentimental for their taste

I hear ya Theory...it seems whenever I watch a film in my bedroom and it's after 8 or 9 PM, that I have to force myself not to snooze. Sitting up straight in bed, with bamboo shoots under my fingernails has yet to work.

I've done the same with other films...sometimes you just have to be "in the right state of mind" to really get into and enjoy some/most films.

ENJOY the conclusion tonight! I've got faith in you!

I just bought Vivre Sa Vie for the $22. It's one I've neglected getting for awhile.

That's a great pick up. I just watched it last week and really enjoyed it. You'll have to say what you think once you have watched it.
