Also, are there any Barnes in-store coupons floating around for non-members currently?

I'm not sure on how they pick them necessarily, but it's probably a majority vote or something. I'm not an expert on how Criterion does this, but I'm confident others on this forum know this better than me.

I do agree, however, that Criterion is awesome. I love all my Criterion Blu-rays so damn much. Videodrome is fantastic, as well.
I thought the new transfer was top notch on Drome.

Most definitely. It's a great transfer. You should check out Videodrome's other Criterion horror buddy, Cronos. Another fantastic release with an equally fantastic transfer.

Admittedly I've not seen any of these on blu (have seen them all however). I'd go with Red Desert.

(Color me foolish.)

I heard Mr Hellboy is in it, you think it is a movie I would like? I am not a guy who gets bored from long movies but love some sick shit lol. When I saw a preview Ron Perlman plays a nut? Sounded good so far lol.

After looking over your collection, I think Cronos would be a perfect fit for you. Another Criterion release, Del Toro, Perlman (who is excellent in the film), great effects, etc. That sums it up. It's definitely not boring, and it's very entertaining for only a 90 minute movie or so. Like I said, the transfer has a similar feel to the Videodrome transfer, I believe. They were both released on the same day, so perhaps they were also worked on concurrently.

Not to mention the extras on Cronos are spectacular. Some of my favorites from a Criterion release.

Thanks for the head's up bro, will this be cheaper or more expensive than Drome?

Of the three, I found Red Dessert the most affecting, pretty easily. 400 Blows I appreciate more than love. I can't fault any aspect of it, and am glad it is in my library, but I don't think that it is a better made film than Breathless or Red Dessert.

Breathless I think is a big pile of good Goddard fun. Red Dessert hit me a bit like a big hammer of industrialized hopelessness.

On Amazon, Cronos is more than Videodrome by a couple of bucks. You could always get it from a third party seller, or just wait til the price goes down. For $34, which is what Amazon is selling it for, I'd still pick up Cronos.

I'm going to disagree regarding Cronos, I thought it was rather poor. I was hoping for a unique gem with mystery, suspense and atmosphere, but instead found the film to be simplistic, rarely wandering far from the commonly used lore. The English-speaking performances are very hammy and I never felt any tension, so I thought it actually was kind of boring. It might not be a bad effort for a first feature film, but I would never pay $35 to have it in my collection.

I do agree though, it could fit in well in Ite's collection.

That's perfectly alright. I do think that Ite would enjoy it though.

I'd say that I have the core of Criterion releases with almost 40, but out of the big ones that I don't have, those being:

The Red Shoes
The Leopard
Mystery Train
Play Time

- which would be the best one to pick? I'm leaning towards The Red Shoes. I've only seen a bit of it, and enjoyed what I saw, but I heard good things about the others, of course, as well.

I'm surprised you don't have it already. What are you waiting for?

Has anyone read whether or not "Ace in the Hole" is coming to Blu-ray? I read something about it on the web, and can't remember where, or whether or not it was just it was just the musing of a Criterion wisher.
