It comes out next month...... so if that formula is close to reality, then 12 months after VOD, Blu-ray is released..... Could be a nice "leading-indicator" if you will.... although obviously there is no industry standard for that type of thing, but an upcoming announcement wouldn't be a shock

That seems to be the rarity. In the past 18+ months, most BD releases (including non-Criterion) are on the street in 3-4 months, a few push the 6 month mark.

Well I'm just saying that although it is confirmed for 2011, we shouldn't expect Carlos very soon this year. Criterion is not usually fast with the IFC Films releases. Antichrist was also VOD in late 2009 and just got released in November.

Just got done watching "Two-lane Blacktop." Really enjoyed it. Warren Oats did a great job with his role, in my opinion.

I have a general "transfer" question, that perhaps Pro-B could help with, or maybe someone else.

I was watching "Mystery Train" again last night, and there is a scene where the Japanese couple are walking with the skyline in the background..... There is some damage on the print, what looks like a large backwards "C" drawn in pencil, or perhaps a hair, etc... right in the middle of the screen, at the bottom.

I guess it could have been a rip, dirt, etc. but it's thin, so I'm guessing a rip or hair.....

It's not a big deal, but certainly very noticeable (my wife said "What's on the screen?" and she's usually oblivious to detail, lack there-of, etc... )

My question is this:

It certainly wouldn't have gone unnoticed during the transfer process, so I'm guessing there was print damage that just couldn't be repaired (leaning towards a rip/tear) so if that's the case, wouldn't there be some sort of digital manipulation tool or smoothing tool etc. that could be used to touch up just this one particular part, or is it a "turn a dial and affect the entire shot, or nothing" type of thing?

I don't think my wife would have appreciated me stopping the film to snap a picture, so hopefully someone else knows the flaw I'm speaking of.

Just ordered 6 titles of the B&N B2G1F (with the 20% off coupon) and at least for me they come out the same as the 50% off sale - $17,51 each ($0,50 cheaper)

What's the 20% off code?

Saw Red Desert today at Best Buy, and snagged that for $30. Social Network and Army of Shadows tomorrow.

Watched "Seven Samurai" last night. I was amazed at what Criterion was able to do. Unbelievable. It was a pleasure to revisit the film, after decades of seeing t.v. airings and DVD's. A cinematic treasure has been saved by Criterion.

Indeed. And worth every bit of $30.00.

If Criterion releases "City Lights" this year, I will be in film heaven.

Is it for Amazon Visa? Or Visa in general? How does it work?

Also the non Visa 20% off code doesn't work on Criterions. At least it doesn't for me.

I prefer Shock Corridor. The story as well as the characters are far more interesting.

Just looked on Amazon, and "Army of Shadows" is a hot seller. It is ranked number 2 right now in the hourly total, right behind "Robinson Crusoe on Mars."
