At least you didn't order it again. I haven't done that yet either but I've come ridiculously close.

Well...I'm a bit late...but El Norte is on "Flix" for another 45 minutes. At least I'll get a little taste of it.

Just got notice from Amazon, that my order for "Army of Shadows" and "Dances with Wolves" has been delayed due to bad weather. Disappointing but not surprising, given the bad weather we had in Atlanta.

Must be Criterion night on the movie channels.

The Darjeeling Limited is on Sundance at 8:25 PM for those interested.

I enjoy that film.... and I actually enjoy pretty much every Wes Anderson film I've seen..... Darjeeling certainly is much lower on the list than his other films for me.... but I still think it's enjoyable.
[Show spoiler] Despite enjoying them, I'd prefer Criterion to announce other titles before exhausting the "Wes Anderson Vault" for us...

EDIT:

if I were put on the spot to list them in order of preference (I have seen them all, now that I look at it)

It would be:

Life Aquatic
Bottle Rocket
Tennenbaums
Rushmore
Darjeeling
Fantastic Fox

I must admit that it has been ages since I watched "Rushmore" however..... and Tennenbaums and Bottle Rocket are virtually interchangeable for me....

I can't believe out of all the Wes Anderson movies to put out on Criterion Blu-Ray, they chose Bottle Rocket and Darjeeling Limited. What about The Royal Tenenbaums? What about Rushmore? Hell, Fantastic Mr. Fox would've made an awesome Criterion.

Well..... Fantastic Mr. Fox got a lot of press.... lots of marketing, etc.... Bottle Rocket is a film that most movie-goers (even those who watched Tenenbaums/Rushmore/Fox ) aren't aware of, and given that fact, if some other studio got the rights to it, they might have tossed it on a disc with a "decent" transfer, little-to-no extras, etc. and put it out at retail....

This is why Criterion is great..... They took a film that doesn't have a large built-in fan base, and gave it the best treatment they could. Like the film or not, preserving films they feel are "important" is what the collection is all about.

They released The Royal Tenenbaums on dvd, but maybe they don't have the rights anymore. Who knows. I wish it comes out sooner than later.

Rushmore as well, right? I can't believe they still haven't been released on Blu. It doesn't seem like it's happening this year.

Haha, that's okay. For those who have trouble sleeping at night, instead of taking pills, just pop in a Wes Anderson film. You'll be out in seconds.

Life Aquatic is your favorite, and Fantastic fox your least? I like his films, but I couldn't stand Life Aquatic, and I thought Fantastic Fox was splendid. I do have to admit I was impressed by Bottle Rocket when I saw it.

i figured i'd help spread some wes love, since he always gets so much hate around here. mine would be:

life aquatic
royal tennenbaums
rushmore
fantastic mr fox
bottle rocket
darjeeling limited

those first four i love completely and could watch any day/any time. i do greatly enjoy bottle rocket and darjeeling, but nowhere near as much.

As much as I love Criterions, I am wary of getting the Naked Kiss and Shock Corridor as blind buys. Did a search, and you can find most, if not all, of Naked Kiss posted in several long clips on YouTube. Watching parts of it last night, I suddenly began thinking this movie would have made an excellent MST3K episode. Heh, I may get it just for that, since I will never be able to watch it now without thinking about two robots sitting next to me making comments.

Also, I really have a craving for bon-bons.

Any chance of Criterion doing a BD treatment of The Ice Storm?

Most films I love I can easily fall asleep to. In fact I can fall asleep in the middle of a battle scene just as much as dialogue. Doesn't mean the film is bad at all.

There's a number of people that think the snow in the new years drawing may be a hint to this. In no way confirmed, merely speculation.

The more explosions and violence a film has, the more likely my wife is to fall asleep, so yeah, you are exactly right.
