Now which one is better? "Still Walking" or "Kagemusha"?

Based on the trailers, I'm more inclined to get Kagemusha since I'm into war movies. I'm just concerned about the PQ though since it's a relatively old film. Did Criterion do a good job in restoring this one?

On the other hand, I also have a soft spot for films that make you feel you're just watching ordinary people going on about their lives, which what "Still Walking" seems to be...
Still Walking is more Ozu than Kurosawa if you ask me.

You scored big time at that price. Well done.

And count me as one more who has just blown a ridiculous sum on the Criterion Third Man. I even spent a little extra to get a sealed copy in the original, cardstock packaging, as I'm among the seeming few who actually like those "digipaks."

Finally! The review I've been waiting for! I'm in this for $17!

Btw, does Criterion have a slip cover?

Okay that's good since I'm going to have it shipped from Family Video.
Because from what I heard they don't pad their packages, so a slip will definitely get all banged up.

My BBS box from them came and literally looked like a truck had fallen on top of it. The box was severely ripped, and I'm not just talking about a dinged corner. The individual slips inside with the movies were all squished.

I had to send it back and even when I explained my problem, and was assured that this next time would be different (packaging), it arrived packaged the same way. The results, though, were much better. All it took was a replacement box from Jon Mulvaney to fix everything.

Wow geez! Anybody else who had experience ordering BDs from them that just come in regular amaray or white Criterion cases? Any of them arrived damaged?

I've been obsessed with both Lancaster and Kirk Douglas lately.
been buying up all their films on dvd, and watching a ton of them.
they really are two of my absolute favorite actors now.
I would highly recommend everyone on here rent or buy "Lonely are the Brave" and "Lawman" and check them out.
incredible films.
I pretty much have enjoyed all of their films, but those 2 really stand out.
also really liked "The Killers","Birdman of Alcatraz", and "Gunfight at OK Corrall"

Newsletter is out.

Looks like the clue is pointing to Louis Malle's "Black Moon".

My mail server must be pre-occupied with screening, and then allowing all of my spam to get through, because I always get the newsletter a solid half-day after people begin reporting it

EDIT:

Found it now at least..... Wow... A black unicorn's back-side.... Criterion's "hint" department decided to mail it in for this one huh
