I'm not sure exactly why, but for some reason I feel like we are getting close to seeing Brazil. I would not be surprised if they announce it soon.

I watched the blu-ray last nite and sold it in about 30 mins on amazon haha. I guess I would have to say I wasn't impressed. Also the BD had a lot of color banding that I couldn't deal with. Technically it was interesting to a point. I can't add much more to it than that.

I tend to use essential in a narrower, more literal 'without A, B or C film would be radically different' sense and in that sense not a lot of individuals make the cut.

Did you not notice that I was agreeing with you? I was just commenting on his work as a whole, which wasn't directed at anyone in particular. The cinematography in Irreversible is pretty impressive too.

Malle's Au Revoir is out tomorrow as well. And it's looking likely Malle's Black Moon will get announced tomorrow so you never know about more Yang.

They usually post them on their Twitter feed on announcement days. I don't think they typically post anything on their website until after the announcements.

It's not all that high on my upgrade list but it's definitely an excellent film.

And any MGM talk keeps my hopes for The Killing alive and well.

12 Angry men is great news IMO.

The Killing is set in stone AFAIK, so no need to hope.

Oh boy, one of my favourites. Feels like another one of those movies that MGM would have gotten around to releasing on Blu-ray themselves eventually, though I'm really glad it's coming.

Do you know if they've talked about it at all?

I know we've been talking about it for a while (since Paths of Glory was announced at least, maybe longer) but I don't that I've ever seen anybody talk about confirmation on their end.

Ever since they showed it at All Tomorrow's Parties it has been assumed that they would release it at some point.
