I have only seen Victim and The League of Gentlemen. CC might be able to comment on the other 2, as I assume he has the set. They are heavy on the drama/thriller side at times and at the time period were groundbreaking for their themes in the UK. Plus, you get to see a very cool London post WW2, which is always worth the price...

You should have no problem - contact customer service via live chat and ask them to credit the 8 bucks back to your account. I've done this numerous times when pre-ordering items.

I think it's pretty good, but I haven't seen it in 30 years since it was in the theaters so take that with a grain of salt. It's grim and gritty, and yet for a thriller it is also at least a slightly epic. It's perhaps Travolta's best role from his whole career, I think. And perhaps DePalma's best film. In some ways it's an homage to Hitchcock, Blow Up, All the President's Men, etc, while still being its own thing.....

Have we ever had so many Criterion blu dots stretched out across the top 20?!

And at amazon, even though it's out of stock, Blow Out is right now their number one selling blu-ray out of all titles available...

The bold statement alone is worth a purchase, as it seems to be very true. Like benbess, I saw this in the theater in my late teens and its seem to have stuck with me for a while. When Criterion announced this, I was very excited.

+1

3.5 out of 4 seems fair (or is that out of 5?). It meets the threshold of "good" for sure. Didn't mean to overhype it. It has flaws like most films do...

I contacted Amazon, and they said they would refund my $8 because I've been a loyal Amazon customer for awhile now. Sooo, cool.

I can't stress enough that those of you who don't have the BBS box set yet, BUY IT. It really is a steal at 52.99. I paid 115 on amazon Canada when it first came out, and thought that was a great price then, (7 Criterion films that cheap?) and the price it's at now means there's no excuse to not buy it. That's about 7.57 per movie, or 8.83 per Blu-Ray disc (Drive, He Said & A Safe Place are on one disc).

I agree, the BBS collection is a steal at 52.00. The set is extraordinary and every film lover should have it in thier collection. As of this moment it is still in stock. Pretty much everything from this sale is now on backorder.

I don't understand why Amazon didn't drop the price on Fear and Loathing too? Speaking of which, Amazon just emailed me that they lost my copy in the mail. I emailed them asking if they were sending me a new copy and they said no they had already refunded my money like I didn't want one...

You guys convinced me. I just bought it. And believe it or not, I haven't seen a single one of these all the way through, although I've seen a few minutes here and there of some of them over the years.

But for less than $8 a movie, it's kinda like a rental with an extra day charge for each movie--but then you get to keep it...Or if I really don't like most of em I could sell em to the used bookstore at some point....

You don't need to contact them for the pre-order price guarantee, you'll automatically get a refund notice after a few days.

I hate you John! I read the review and description on Amazon and it sounded very intriguing...my wife is into the British mysteries and noir, so I think SHE might even enjoy some/all of it.

Like others, I've spent a bit lately and will get killed in May, so I wanted to get at least one selection...and in stock. This set fit the bill...thanks for the endorsement John!

This is now my second Eclipse set. I'll buy these slowly, as I persuade myself to buy some DVDs...mostly ones that don't seem destined for blu.
