Smart to release Killer's Kiss with The Killing, as I don't think I would have bought it on its own.

I'm definitely picking up:

The Killing
Orpheus
The Battle of Algiers

And I really want to see the Jean Vigo films.

Aren't all of Criterion's Blu-ray extras in HD?

I'm 99% conifident it'll be HD. The bonus features on the Kes and Stagecoach releases were HD.

Nice releases! Does anyone know why they haven't started to release any of the Eclipse Series on blu-ray?

Is it just me or is Secret Sunshine Criterion's first South Korean release?

Because the intentions of the Eclipse sets were to release films that wouldn't sell enough to stand-alone in the set. Criterion doesn't do any tinkering with the films in the Eclipse sets, nor are there any extras other than the liner notes. The purpose was to make these films available in cost-efficient sets, and I don't think transferring these to blu-ray would make them as such. They are all perfectly adequate on DVD. Not everything has to be on blu-ray to be appreciated.

Because the whole point of the Eclipse series is that it is films they want to release, but don't have the time/resources to do full main-line releases for. Not just in terms of supplements, commentaries, essays, etc. - but even the quality of the film master.

It takes considerable time and resources for each Blu-ray release, so that's counter to everything the Eclipse series is about.

Yeah, but those features were no different than my Directv HD. It would be great if it got the 1080P treatment also, as B&W films benefit so well from it.

It never said it was a box set...it is just the "complete" Vigo. Remember, he died at 29, so he probably didn't make more.

At 140-150 min. total, these should have no problem fitting on one BD. Now, it may come in a cardboard style package, a la By Brakhage, with a nice booklet or something, but who knows.

(I know BB was 3 discs, but Vol. 1 was a digipak and was only 1 disc...so shhhhhh)

Glad The Killing is coming. Nice they are including Killer's Kiss, but I was almost hoping they would release that separately and include Fear and Desire.

I see Jacques Rozier is in the Collection again with the Vigo set, but I would love to somehow get his couple of shorts onto a disc (I want to see Blue Jeans).

You can give the $25 that you are saving to me. I'll gladly accept it.

I hadn't read too much into Eclipse, so thanks for the info. I don't think films have to be on blu-ray to be appreciated, I just thought some of the Fuller, Bergman and Kurosawa sets would do quite well.
