I thought the Val Lewton version of Cat People was under WB's catalog titles? Only reason I would go to the Universal 80's version.

it would be nice to see the 80's version, although I still have the HD-DVD. Maybe they got it along with Fear and Loathing in a deal, who knows? Either way, it seems to possibly be one or the other.

Very True Black Cat I almost forgot about. Would be perfect in time for Sept/ Oct type Halloween release.

I don't think Barnes & Noble memberships offer 10% discounts on their website anymore. I think now you can only get free expedited shipping.

As far as the coupons go I am talking about the printable "surprise" discount coupons Barnes & Noble sometimes offer. One time they happened to roll out those coupons when a 3 for 2 promotion was going on. Each non-member and membership coupon contained a barcode. People on other forums figured out what barcode corresponded to what % off. Once the 50% ones got out people printed numerous copies and stacked them on top of the 3 for 2 promotion (a member one on one title, and a non-member on another). If you have a membership you'll get another 10% off as well. Criterions are 10% off in store before your membership discount.

Someone elsewhere online suggested ISLAND OF LOST SOULS, for the image. That's my hope (fingers crossed...).

The problem is that technically it is a panther and not a cat? Cat People has a panther in it and Kuroneko has a cat.

Funny you should mention that...it should be on its way to me tomorrow as a NetFlix rental...will probably watch Saturday morning.

L'Atalante being the popular film (infuenced future French filmmakers), the shorts are more than interesting (Zéro de conduite is the next highlight, though I very much like Ŕ propos de Nice. Haven't seen Taris.). He is a important figure to discover, so you won't lose out if you buy this, and could very well be the release of the year (but that Music Room release is making me think twice.). Without all the love for people's fav films (Kubrick's The Killing, etc), Criterion has released some important films for the U.S. to see (People on Sunday, this Vigo set, and The Music Room), so it isn't just my 3 fav releases of the year so far for no reason.
THANKS a lot for the education!

Why are you thinking twice about "The Music Room"?

If it is Paul Schraders Cat People that would be great. It was a Universal HD DVD but has not made it to Blu ray yet. A Criterion would be prefered because the PQ would be better; it fits in with the type of cult films Criterion likes to release.

Powell,

It is a regular Criterion (clear) case with a regular cover; the colors reflect the yellow(ish) of the beautiful Hari scenes (if you've seen the film, then you know what I am talking about), while the light blue/gray(ish) is, obviously, the Ocean. So, nothing unusual, though some of the photos make the case and colors look a but unusual.

I think you'll like it - Lino makes a great tough guy in this and Paul Meurisse makes a great Inspector. Great dialogue too!

No I mean The Music Room is making me think twice about the Vigo set being the release of the year (both worthy of that).

Agree, it is a panther. I would think it is the Val Lewton version because it is a black and white drawing, not a hint of color.

Hello,

Because of a technical glitch on our site, early this morning some customers were sent a "payment processing failure" email in error, along with another email indicating that the same order was processed successfully.

No worries though, your credit card information is up to date and secure. Any pending orders are intact and you've only been charged once. To double-check your account information, you can log in to your account by going to http://www.criterion.com/login and clicking on MY ACCOUNT in the upper right-hand corner. From here you can make sure all of your information is up to date.

If you have placed a pre-order, it should ship within one business day, and you should receive a shipment confirmation shortly after.

Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience!

Best,

The Criterion Collection

You will not take Nastassja Kinski away!

Seriously, I believe it's Island of Lost Souls (Panther Woman).

This would be awesome. I have the Lewton collection on DVD and love all of those movies.

Well, to be fair to those on that forum, those reviews (and I use the word incredibly lightly here) tend to be incredibly ignorant and just plain dumb. So dumb that they can become funny. I don't really see the harm in pointing that out.
