Perhaps that was me.... I have purchased stuff in the last two BN sales. For most of the orders I placed, the titles were split over multiple packages (although they didn't charge extra postage), and some titles were inexplicably never delivered. Those that were delivered were fine, well packaged, but a bit slow to arrive.

I had about 4 or 5 titles from the last sale that never got shipped, despite me emailing customer support at least 3 times, and despite that fact that they remained in stock and available for delivery within 24 hours (these included the Antoine Doinel set, Brute Force, Seven Samurai BD, etc). The last time I asked about them, I got a response from an actual person who said they would follow-up, and then the outstanding titles were abruptly cancelled and I was told they couldn't supply them. I think they didn't want to honour the sale prices. I can think of no other reason. Or perhaps extreme incompetence.

In any case, I am reluctant to order again via the BN web site, because I would rather seek out titles through Amazon or other e-tailers who have reliable delivery timeframes, even if it costs a few more bucks. If I could walk into a BN store and just buy them, it would be a different story - but no such stores in Oz.

Excellent thanks for the links. I do have an edu address so that will help. That's how I got a year of free Amazon Prime.

Just got back from Borders. They didn't have anything that I was interested in (Fear & Loathing, Sweet Smell of Success, People on Sunday, Keaton titles) but they had a healthy selection of Criterion DVDs and a fair selection of Criterion BDs (mostly the major arthouse titles and major studio films).

It wasn't a total bust. I walked out with The Best of The 80s: Miami Vice -- an eight episode compendium for $8! (Michael Mann's Thief is rumored to be coming to Criterion.) Whatever happened to Philip Michael Thomas?
Really. That's a lot like The Blob - I would never in a million years put it on a wishlist but I'll snap it up the second it goes on sale.

Hey, anyone here thats a seller/trader on here, just a quick question,

Do you find it safe and what not to sell on here? I might sell of a couple of sealed Criterions and wonder if this is a good place to (in terms of good, loyal people).

I have had good experiences thus far on here. However, I have found that there are more browsers than buyers, unless an item is very cheap or OOP.

Well I'm thinking of selling 3 sealed ones, so I can get some money to buy stuff at the B&N sale (The Music Room and maybe either Solaris or an Eclipse I have been wanting). So I obviously can't trade (because no one has The Music Room yet, so I need to sell them). Thanks.

Oh something else, what about shipping? Should it be added in my prices that I'm selling them for, or wait until the buyer talks about it (maybe they want to pay more to have it quicker, like an express shipping). I was thinking if it's media mail (or they buy all 3 together), I might just pay for it. I didn't know how forum sales work.

Trading on here has been fine for me so far. With the B&N sale coming up you probably won't sell unless the price is low. Otherwise people will probably wait two weeks and get the movie new. What are you planning on selling and what for?

I want to sell Gomorrah, Hunger, and Kagemusha, since I never opened them, seen them, just not my thing (well I love Hunger), and rather need the money for The Music Room. Thinking Kurosawa, and 2 contemporary films might sell well here.

I might, if I can sell them together, $50 for all 3 brand new (I paid $90 throughout time obviously. $16 each on that deal, otherwise I'll sell them $20 each I guess, just so I could do a hand off on those, to 3 that interests me in the sale. Kind of like a trade for me.). It's kind of like buying them at B&N brand new (if someone wanted them), but your helping me out by doing business with me.

Most of the time, sellers add the shipping into the price of the item. However, you are free to state the shipping prices separately, and offer various shipping alternatives.

Good thing about using the forum, is you don't miss the Ebay or Amazon fees. However, Ebay market is hit and miss, from what I have seen. For instance, I sold a like new "Third Man" digi with replacement case included on Ebay recently for $90.00 Several days later, I listed another one the same way, and it sold for just over $66.00 while a few other auctions for the same thing sold higher. lol I was not happy, but that is how it goes sometimes.

If you sold them for $16.00 each, or $50 as a lot with shipping included, I think you will get a little action. The upcoming B&N sale is working against you right now. Good luck with it. I know how it is trying to scrape money together for high want buys.

I am thinking about selling some stuff, for some high dollar "wants." Trying to decide which route I want to go.

Most people who sell BD here will include the price of shipping in the total price. (for example, $22.00 shipped)

Yeah, I shouldn't of waited until this time to do this, but didn't know I had to do this until now. Thanks for your help.

One tip: Many Borders now have B2G1 bins for various media, including Blu-ray. For whatever reason, they've put many Criterions in there (but you won't get B2G1 pricing if you're using a coupon, obviously).
I was in a Borders tonight and saw two BBS box sets in the B2G1 bin, so if you are on the hunt for the set and have a Borders nearby, might check it out for use with the 50% coupon.

As for other Criterions, I saw quite a few on the shelves and in the B2G1 bins, but none newer than March releases. I saw Yi Yi and Au Revoir les Enfants on the shelves, which makes me think Criterion has shut-off delivery to their stores. Either that, or Borders is not ordering stock from Criterion anymore except for their website.

Apparently typing "The Blob" into the search bar was too much for you?

I would post the link, but I can't get it to post without posting the Hulu Player, so I give up.

See, stories like this really put me off buying from Barnes & Noble, even though it is a big discount.
What's the point of a discount if you don't get the product and end up wasting your time and sanity dealing with bad customer service?
I picked quite a number of titles during that last Amazon sale, so I'd love it if they did another one...
I guess I'll wait until the sale starts and see if excitement overrules good judgement.

Well, 1 sold, so in comes The Music Room. If I get the other 2 sold, I'll go for an Eclipse prob.

For an European customer, ordering from B&N is one big game.

First off, you never know which titles will be sent and which of them will be cancelled. Yes, they do that. Why? God only knows...

Second; an average B&N package will see more of the world then I ever will. It literally takes weeks (sometimes) months before packages arrive. If they arrive at all. At every sale I've lost 1 package. Somewhere on the world there's a Joe mailman who's wandering what he has to do with a stolen The Seventh Seal Criterion. Sorry mate, it isn't Bill and Ted Bogus Adventure!

Why do I keep ordering? The prices are good (especially when the library link was still active, they do have coupons that reduces the prices even more) and the sheer tention. Will I get the package or not. It's like going on a first date; will I be able to kiss her or will she brush me off

ahh yes, the thrill of the chase, i can see why that anticipation is what doesn't stop you from ordering.

i guess my B&N experiences are the complete opposite, which are usually mundane and predictable: every time i drive to either of the two local B&N stores for the criterion sale, 90-95% of the time, the title(s) i want to pick up are surely gonna be there since people around here don't really seem to interested in 'em or aren't aware of the sale since they're already off-put by the msrp prices on any regular day
