B&N cancelled my High & Low, but are still shipping Kiss Me Deadly and the Double Life of Veronique that I ordered with it (without the $3 off coupon that was attached to Veronique!). I don't really care, I'll get it in November, but it would have been nice to be able to put another Criterion in its place for the sale price.

The 6 discs that I ordered on July 12th (which were shipped on July 13th) have still not shown up! Is this normal? B&n are sure glad to take your money, but not so glad to give you something in return!

Criterion tweeted about the missing Hitchcock film found that I was talking about earlier.
Awesome. Glad I'm not the only one excited although in this thread I appear to be.

'The White Shadow' cool name. I think the coolest thing about this kind of news is it gives hope for people
that some missing films may someday come to light.

It's hit and miss, I'm still waiting on orders shipped on the 14th and 19th. I did get another order shipped on the 14th, on the 23rd, but nothing since then. I think CP is still screwed up as well, despite what they said. My ALA membership I renewed a month ago still hasn't arrived yet.

I finally got around to watching the recorded TCM broadcast of it. While certainly not a bad film it just didn't do much for me. I found it to be too stuffy and uneven. Although, I know some people will buy it because of its cover art.
I liked the film quite a bit. I found it to be an interesting commentary on tradition, friendship, loyalty, and courage. One of the many great films from 1939.

What *******s. They have yet to answer me about the problem I've had with my order (they sent me a Motorhead biography instead of a "Pale Flower" Blu-ray... really similar). But they've had my money for a month. Very frustrating.

Maybe CP is still catching up in your neck of the woods, but I can assure you that in Montreal, everything has gone back to normal speed. Maybe your membership got lost?

Perhaps, it was sent out around the time CP had just started up again. Also, the mail service to my apt in Darmouth sucks. I'm constantly getting other tennants' mail. It's exactly why I ship my parcels to my parents' house outside of HRM.

Never seen it. Is it a good blind buy?

Tell me about it. Amazon.ca's Criterion prices are mind-boggling, and they never have sales.

It's 10 bucks less. Naked is also about a dollar less. Other than that, our prices suck.

Surprising. However, I do find it interesting that several titles, such as M and Marienbad, have a permanent price of $26 rather than the usual $38.

Diabolique is under 30 bucks too, I do believe.

WOW...just realized that it's release date is Aug.30...money's been tight, so I've been holding off.

Decided to order it anyway...got 3 weeks to think about it.

I like Lindsay Anderson and saw "O' Lucky Man" when it was first released in US theaters.

Yes...I am an old man...

PS...luckily it seems that Amazon US still has it for $25.99.

That's why i pre-ordered it from there. Hopefully the dollar will stay par or higher by then.

I'm a young'un. I saw the Monty Python parody, and I love Malcom McDowell (except Caligula). I've been wanting to see it for awhile.

I rented it from NetFlix, so it won't be a blind buy...I'm a fan of Malcolm as well.

Watch O' Lucky Man if you get a chance...a very strange and wonderful film!

I received my copy of The Battle of Algiers from planetaxel yesterday and watched it today. Very good film, if slightly uneasy veiwing. I really liked the way it's shot, you'd think it was a documentary becuase some of the scenes had to be difficult for the actors to shot! Cannot wait to get stuck into the extras

Yeah, I was very surpised as well. I was on the fence and the Billy Wilder writing credit drew me in but I didn't go in with high expectations at all.

It hooked me about twenty minutes in and it's been popping in and out of my head ever since.

And it's even more impressive when you consider that nobody involved really knew what they were doing yet. I was expecting it to have much more of an experimental/student feel but it was remarkably polished and at times very sophisticated.
