going to order "If..." today. Also going to add another title to that order starring actor Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange"...held off on buying this title for a while as I though the 40th edition digi would have included the 4k restoration I had heard about. But now would seem like the perfect time since it's on sale.

Well...the Jean Vigo set was ordered weeks ago from Amazon as a late birthday present. Didn't confirm the 40% off until this morning. By then, Amazon was processing my order and it was too late to cancel. Since the difference between Amazon and B & N. is $7, I've opted for the B & N copy and will return the Amazon copy for "store credit" as I plan to order something between now and the end of our Amazon Mom Prime trial.
Strike appears to be the same price, so I'll keep the copy that was just shipped. I wonder if Amazon will discount the Vigo BD at this point? |

I do actively look for sales, but at the same time, I know I cannot get the price points some other users are able to get, and feel it's silly for them to claim they won't buy something for 17.99, because they have never paid more than 16.99 for something, or some other quibbling amount, and call me foolish and say my logic is "flawed" because I cannot buy something for the same price as them. That's not flawed logic, that's the problem of living in a geographical location that lacks a place like B&N with good sales, and a high sales tax rate. I just pointed out that for some people, the current sale is a pretty good deal, especially when the titles that are "outrageously priced at 23.99," are about 40 plus in the stores where I live, and have a 15% sales tax as well. ![]() |

I need some criterion case replacements for some digi packs i have of early editions. I understand some of them are available in clear plastic cases now. But I live in the Netherlands and criterion doesn't ship replacements cases outside the US. Is there anyone who can order some cases for me and ship them to me? I will pay extra ofcourse. Please send me a private message if you want to help me.

![]() Of course I'm not complaining either, I just said they need a coupon to get me to jump on any of these now. Otherwise i can wait a couple months as I had planned on doing anyway. As the other guy pointed out, less cost per disc = easier to buy more. ![]() |

![]() Also, Criterion always announce when discs go OOP so there is enough time for the people that want to buy the discs to it. It happen with every BD disc. As for not being able to get the same price as the people in the US.. why even compare? You don't live there. People who do have a different notion on what is their sweet spot price since they usually don't pay for shipping or can buy the discs in-store. I'm from Portugal so I always take into account the shipping when I'm buying stuff so MY price point is also different. In the end, no one is wrong. I always wait for the 50% off/B3G1F sales to buy all my Criterions. Don't mind the wait since I always have tons to watch until then. Last edited by Eny-; 08-30-2011 at 10:10 PM. |

For anyone that is interested in Godard/Truffaut and their falling out, the Tribune had a nice article about Two in the Wave . I have not seen it yet, but it is available on netflix for rental and streaming if anyone is interested. The article is below.

I'm not the one comparing prices, it's the other people on this board who tell me I paid too much for a certain title, when it was really the cheapest I could get it at (it has happened in other threads, and others have discouraged others from getting certain titles because they paid less for it a few years back or some other thing). ![]() I'm not sure how this has even turned into a discussion, since I myself am actually waiting for the next 50% off sale, and even stated so in my first post. I was just pointing out that the price point on this sale isn't that bad, it's still a 40% off sale. I just find it a little ridiculous to complain about a sale, or the mystery coupons from last week. Retailers don't have to give us these prices you know, and it seems like so many people on here think that the retailer owes them something, and complain about how much of a discount they get, rather than being thankful that B&N, Amazon, and others do these kinds of sales. ![]() |
