![]() FYI, for those who want more foreign films that aren't French, Italian, Swedish or Japanes to watch, and have TCM, TCM's showing a couple from Yugoslavia (it was called that in 1968 and 1965 when the films were released) this Friday night/Saturday morning: 2:00 AM - Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing Switchboard Operator (1967) 3:15 AM - Man Is Not A Bird, A (1972) (TCM goofed, it should be 1965) They're both directed by Dusan Makavejev: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Du%C5%A1an_Makavejev These two are in the collection in an Eclipse box set: http://www.criterion.com/boxsets/668...evfree-radical |

Those would be good additions - so would Laloux's Gandahar, a Criterion Brazil-style release of Richard Williams' Thief and the Cobbler, or even Princess Iron Fan if you wanted to reach. Personally, I think Criterion is the only distributor even remotely capable of releasing Disney's Song of the South in an addition deserving of the film's technique and place in animation history.... while backing it up with enough educational and supplemental materials to make it a film class that does not turn a blind eye to its many troubling race issues. ![]() |

Slightly off topic, but B&N is claiming that My Dollars Trilogy should have shown up on the 12th of September, as it shipped on the 26th of August, and it's now considered lost. They're going to refund me my money, because I'm an international order and thus can't replace it. I can still get it for 26.99, but without the extra 15% off. It's still half the price of the Canadian set, even with the dollar below par. I'll be buying it in-store a week from tomorrow, as the B&N store in Portsmouth, NH is claiming it's in stock. Tell me my American counterparts, how much of a price difference is the B&N site from the store? Can I expect this set to be well over 30 next Friday?
Back on topic: I want Dersu Uzala too. |

I'd say expect to pay the MSRP for the movie.

Don't forget Alf Sjoberg, and Victor Sjostrom, the latter's The Phantom Carriage was just released on Blu-ray. NTM, that My Life as a Dog and Everlasting Moments were both Swedish as well.
Sweden actually outnumbers Germany, 34-16(17 if you include West Germany). Last edited by kpkelley; 09-29-2011 at 08:32 PM. |

Freaking wonderful. I was looking forward to saving money by buying down there, as opposed to buying it here in Canada. I know Chapters' prices are usually about 2-5 bucks more in-store than online, and I was hoping B&N would be the same, because that's essentially how much I pay for shipping with them for a single item. I already checked Best Buy for the titles, and they're either not in-stock, or aren't discounted like B&N. I'll just wait for the credit to show back up, and re-order it. It was just a measley 15% discount off it, and it's still cheaper than the Canadian price.
I'm blaming Canada Post for this BTW, not B&N. The postal workers are still disgruntled, and both them and the corporation are being jerks. This is the first order I've had an issue with. I've spent well over 600 bucks with this past summer, and will continue to do business with them. If it happens again, I won't. |

How's FYE for prices? I may end up buying less in NH than I thought/ I was looking forward to getting some CC titles.

It's hit or miss with FYE. Some movies tend to be real cheap usually older titles while others are probably $5-10 cheaper than MSRP. They also have a good selection of used movies which seem to be in good condition.

This is my first time going to NH actually. Last time I was in the US was almost 3 years ago, and I only went to Maine. Even though I pay a ton of shipping, it's still cheaper than the Canadian price. I'm just slightly disappointed to hear that B&N's prices are so much more in-store than online. I've only ever been in Borders to be honest, and I had some good deals on books and DVDs back then.
