Looks like Gojira has two listings on this site! (for this same Criterion release) Can someone delete one of them?

Probably because they don't have the rights for Ran...

It looks like a musical more than anything. I don't know if I will like it.

Have seen Black Orpheus on the DVD version. It was decent, and yes it has a lot of music, although it's not a Hollywood kind of musical. The film looks very colorful and has a vibrant score, and some of the interpretations of the Orpheus story into the milieu of the film are interesting.

Really? The screenshots on DVDBeaver and BR.com's reviews look pretty good and a lot more vibrant than at least the SDVD Criterion release.

With regards to Belle de Jour I'm actually leaning more towards the Studio Canal release, unless the Criterion transfer on this one is remarkably better and doesn't feature elevated contrasts.

Just received Paths Of Glory and Sweet Smell of Success bringing my CC to 11.

Still need to get Belle A La Bete and Battle of Algiers; but with the import cap reducing to £15 November 1st I doubt this will be very soon unless someone sells ridiculously low on e-bay, the other option is £23.99 plus p+p from planetaxel but I'm not keen on spending over £20 on a single title.

New titles I'm interested in - Island of The Lost Souls and the Suzuki double bill.

Belle Du Jour I'll probably settle for the UK StudioCanal digibook.

Francesco Rosi!!!!! Yes, I love his movies. Salvatore Giuliano and Hands over the City ar by far among the best movies from the 60s in the collection. That's Napoli style.

I think TRAFFIC is a terrific film. I've held off getting the Universal edition in hopes of the Criterion being release. So count me in as someone happy about the release.

Thrilled about Traffic. Here's hoping The Game isn't too far behind.

I always thought the Mexican part is terrific the part with Michael Douglas is about the worst kind of Holywood melodrama.

The Godzilla cover art is by comic book illustrator Bill Sienkiewicz. That may explain someone's comment about it's video game looking quality. He also did the Criterion's Robinson Crusoe on Mars.

Octagon's avatar from Sweet Smell of Success is by comic illustrator Sean Phillips.

Disappointed in the sense that it was a ways down the list of upgrades I'd like to see. The biggest problem with the film is the on-the-nose (message-laden) character played by Douglas, otherwise, well worth your time.

Just got a 30 reasons email from CC, and to be honest, I hadn't really watched those little clips before, save a handful.

I am now terribly excited to see Orpheus, The Music Room and especially Carlos!!

And by the way, love those January releases!!

Bingo!

For me, The Moment of Truth is the most exciting title of all four. This is a terrific film and I never had it on DVD. On a side note, I was hoping that we would see some Liliana Cavani films by now. The Night Porter is out in France next week:

I Cannibali (The Year of the Cannibals) Raro released in Italy would be great on Blu-ray as well. Maybe our U.S. guys can handle it.

I Cannibali DVD

My favourite Soderberg movie is 'The Limey' with the magnificent Terence Stamp- I feel that would be a better choice of movie for Criterion, as it's way less commercial, and a better movie imho. Just my 2 cents!

Is Gozilla a choice movie for Criterion? Not really... but there is no "choice", other than what they deem worthy and can get the rights to.
