I think it's more likely that Spanish "Cows" film someone linked to earlier. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103186/

If it were Red River, I'd think there would be a river or the color red in there somewhere.

A Miklós Jancsó set of his films would be a nice surprise (regarding the cow clue). Kino has "The Red and The White" though (don't know if they could include it), so if the clue hints at "My Way Home", would be curious to know if this is a stand alone release, an Eclipse, or a mainline set. Then again, the clue might not point to Miklós Jancsó.

If it's hinting "Hungary" Cow, it's either got to be Jancsó or Tarr.

Edit: Though way off path of this, some at CriterionForum has a David LEAN/Noel COWARD boxset from this clue (which actually sounds like a better clue).

I'm envious, but not of Salo of course. I'm about halfways there. I have 52 CC titles listed, but 5 of those won't be ordered until next week during the sale, 2 are pending a pre-order, and one's not a pre-order but I ordered it with one of my pre-orders. I'm slowly catching up with all the titles I want.

And yet that's less than 7% of your total collection
I've got 49 Criterion blu-rays, but I also have 3 films in the collection from other regions.
I'll be picking up 7 in the November sale (unless you count 9, because Three Colours will be one of those).

I am wondering what prices you got for them? Why not wait a week and wait for the sale?

I got a good price for Island of Lost Souls. Amazon.ca has it for almost $40 and I got it from USA Amazon for $25.

I'm still on the fence with Vigo. I might buy that one in the sale.

Bought Dazed & Confused last night at Best Buy...which was kind of weird since it was not listed on their website the day before. I just kind of saw it on the shelf last night when I went in to work.

Got it for $18. and change with my discount and $7.50 off for getting a credit card application. I was prepared to pay the $25 it would have been with just the discount since the digi was pristine

It would be nice if Amazon would match the B&N sale. That way we wouldn't need to cancel our preorders for titles being released during the sale.

Of course, Second Run is compiling "My Way Home", "The Red and the White", and "The Round-Up" into a DVD box-set coming out next month. I think they all had previous separate releases. It's R2, of course. But, i'll buy it then Kino or Criterion will announce it for the rest of you.

Criterion needs to get out some Vlacil...now. Valley of Bees please.

The only pre-order I have for November comes out the day after the sale ends. I'm sticking with Amazon, because it's pennies difference between the B&N price (B&N is 3 bucks more, but their shipping is 2 dollars less). Both are still cheaper than the 38.99 plus 15% sales tax tax Amazon.ca wants for 12 Angry Men. Stupid, stupid sale, ending before the BD comes out.

For some people if Amazon goes to $20 it beats the BN sale. BN has gotta get some better coupons going....

Although I own a good amount of Criterion films, I have yet to see any of the Jean Vigo films and am on the fence about buying the box set during the B and N sale. I know how influential Vigo is, but can anyone please weigh in about whether this would be a good purchase?

I'd love to know what people familiar with the Vigo collection (or the films therein) think of it. Thoughts?

I'm sure it's been discussed somewhat, but I can't search this thread and there's rarely a thread for any specific Criterion.
