I'm not big on lists but they seem to have the most interesting "list". I'd argue Marienbad should be MUCH higher on the list

OK...so I plan on hitting B&N in a couple hours. I'm prepared to buy 3 CCs. I know I'm getting "Dazed & Confused". Probably "Modern Times" also.

Now...I'm stuck on which one to get to fill that 3rd spot. Out of these...what's everyone's opinions on them. They're all blind buys to me mind you.

- Chronos
- Something Wild

- Night of the Hunter

OR should I got with one of these ( which I like )

- Seven Samurai
- Videodrome

Close-up is a must. It has great replay value, too.

Once you see that you'll want to go import Certified Copy, too.

Something Wild might not be the most popular choice, but it was a hell of a ride; fun, entertaining, with some replay value.

Night of the Hunter is just awesome. Either one, you can't go wrong...

I sure am glad that I came to read through the forum before I sent a ridiculous PM back to you.

Unfortunately, I'm working too much right now to afford your PM the time that it deserves, so it'll have to wait... indefinitely.

On another note just watched Island of Lost Souls. What a fantastic movie. Going to watch it with commentary this weekend. I really hope they can release some more classic horror movies.
I am completely enamored with my Island of Lost Souls BD. You make a wonderful suggestion of more pre code horror from Criterion. I would love to see any of the following.

Freaks (1932)
The Old Dark House (1932)
The Most Dangerous Game (1932)
The Black Cat (1934)
Murders in the Zoo (1933)
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1932)

Freaks is easily one of the best horrors ever made. (But it's what, Warner? I don't believe they would license it to Criterion. ) I could also go with Lon Chaney's The Unknown (1927), or A Page of Madness (Japan, 1927) if I could be choosey, but if we were we could do this all day.

I didn't have money for any blu-rays, really, but I decided to starve for a few days and got:

The Killing.

I was torn between that, The Phantom Carriage, and Island of Lost Souls... but the second film on The Killing sold me.

My fingers are crossed that next paycheck will reveal some real spare change. But it is car inspection time, soooo...probably not.

I know your pain, my inspection's due in January (only 25 bucks), but my dad put my snow tires on for me this past weekend and told me I have about 400 dollars worth of work needed right now. My rear shocks and my rocker panels are rusted out.

What I want to know is... when can we see Throne of Blood and Rashomon on blu? I'm sure someone else here has mentioned it, but I figured they would be shoe-ins. I was lucky enough to see the latter on the big screen a few years ago, but missed ToB.

I could live without Rashomon but I would love to see Throne of Blood down the road.

[Show spoiler]Way down the road would be fine though...I love Kurosawa but there are a lot of other things that could stand some doing before going back to that well

I think Hidden Fortress should be dealt with first, since it's last release was a practically bare bones disc back in 1999/2000. It's shouting out for an upgrade

that sucks...have you seen The Killing? I am planning to get this together with Carlos but waiting on new coupons due anytime now from B&N to maximize savings. I know it's hard to blind buy Criterions since these movies are not for everyone.
