Murder a la Mod and Killer's Kiss aren't, in my opinion, of a high enough quality to be a double feature and/or have a spine number.

Also, I think everyone in this discussion has forgotten Cathy Come Home, the Ken Loach TV movie that's included on Kes. I thought it was actually very impressive, and better then Killer's Kiss or Murder a la Mod.
I've not yet watched Murder a la Mod but I think Killer's Kiss can definitely stand as a feature in its own right. Whether there would have been a market for it is one thing but I was surprised at just how solid a film it actually is.

I love Kes but think Cathy Come Home is even better. I hope no one overlooked it

Hey, rkish.

I picked up the Silent Naruse Eclipse set the other day based on your feedback, and after screening it on hulu plus. Thanks for the recommendation.

Today I stopped by and got Kenji Mizoguchi's Fallen Women set after sampling it last night. I was tempted by the Ozu's, but thanks to posts on this thread alerting me to BFI, I will hold off for their upcoming region B blu-ray releases.

Two Lane Blacktop

Tin Drum would certainly help me out a lot! Preference for sooner rather than later.

Glad you picked it up Dude! It's a great set!

Good news for those following the BFI thread...in February, they are releasing an Ozu DVD only set of his 5 college themed silent films. My guess is, that these are not worthy of the BD treatment and would likely have been the second film on the DVD only sets, like they've been doing with the other releases.

I've gotten all of the BFI sets and have stayed away from any of the CC DVD sets, but since the next set is themed based, I'm considering a purchase of Silent Ozu...only one of those three films has been released by BFI so far.

Well...thanks for the nudge Dude! I've been on the fence about that Mizoguchi set (I've seen all of the films in that set...NetFlix), but my loyalties were more with Ozu, Naruse, and lately, the non-Samurai/post war films by Kurosawa. Mizoguchi would complete things, as far as the prominent Japanese directors at that point in time.

STILL WALKING continues to be overlooked in most places. Great choice!

First edits were rejected, because I didn't include a comment, but I've since gone to correct it. I've made note of Cathy Come Home as well. Stagecoach and Au revoir les enfants also have bonus films, such as Bucking Broadway and The Immigrant.

I've opened a whole can of worms. I'm sorry. I do prefer this debate rather than the one that's going on in the 50% off sale thread though.

A few people did, and it was discussed in the 50% off thread under hot deals. I think a couple people just held out and it processed normally:

I'm guessing they need to do some processing on your credit card that takes a little while if you are an international customer

i installed the data lines in their Ardsley office in Westchester back when they were still making LD's and later when the first dvds came out..it was a small place but filled with reels of film in the cans..very KOOL..there was some very interesting criterion products i had never seen including an LD of Andrew Wyeth paintings

One time I had an order to do a repair for Criterion...I went in an no one was there..i saw the floor manager and he said they were CLOSED today..meanwhile the place was unlocked and being an honest guy..I looked but did not touch or take anything..talk about a kid being left alone in a candy shop..I left when I verified that no one would be meeting me and I LOCKED their door for them

I am looking to watch Identification of a Woman this weekend and was curious to get any feedback on the film, the transfer, etc. from anyone who has watched the Blu-ray. I've read the official Bluray.com review, of course, but was wondering what the general consensus is on the movie, the BD, and its placement within Antonioni's filmography. Many thanks in advance!

You'll probably wanna do in-store pickup for those two. Seems many are getting delay notices online.

That would require a transatlantic flight and savings from 50% sale wouldn't cover it

Watched DazedNConfused last night. Had never really seen the whole film and never gave it a chance. Made me miss my teenage years. Really reflects exactly like it was for certain groups of people in that era. Man we have lost some freedoms and become a pansy PC lawsuit hungry nation. I knew that before but that film really brought back some memories and drove the point home for me.

watching Carlos this weekend can't wait!!!
