Italy has a decent showing in the collection, but it appears to have been lumped under "others."

Poor you. At least you know what not to pre-order for February now. You can get Anatomy of a Murder instead!
I "pre-ordered" both Fanny and Rules to my local store...good thing that I did, as I think I might have gotten the only copies that they had. I guess the sale is killing their stocked inventory.

Three Colors is in a really nice packaging! Very nice and thick booklet with it. I will save revisiting all of these films for over Thanksgiving/Christmas, as I rented them all from NetFlix within the last 6 months or so.

Yeah, my friend put his order in last Tuesday, the day F&A came out, and it was cancelled yesterday. It should have shipped last week. A couple days before he did the Algiers, Killing, and D&C order, and they shipped Algiers 2 days later, but still haven't shipped the rest of that order. He tried re-ordering F&A last night, and it went through, so he has his fingers crossed that it will ship. He's been waiting for it for awhile. I guess some titles are more popular than others, hence all the cancellations/delays due to low stock.

I watched The Rules of The Game today. Looked lovely, so I will assume some of the rougher spots are limitations of the source material??? It fluctuated through different scenes.
the original negatives were destroyed during WWII, they pieced it back together somehow later on. so its safe to assume they used inferior source material in some spots.

Not having seen Tiny Furniture, so I can't comment on the film. The cover is one of the worst I've ever seen. Who looks at that and says "this looks like a must see! Some fat girls fat face!" Ugh.
Well, a lot of the time Criterion covers look great and the films end up being crap, as my friends have experienced.

I hate Carlos' cover, but it's a rocking miniseries.

There's still enough of Covers and Films being awesome together though to make up for bad covers and good films, and good covers and bad films.

Awesome Covers & Awesome Films:

Hausu
12 Angry Men
Anatomy of a Murder
Island of Lost Souls
Black Narcissus
Charade
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Diabolique
The Sweet Smell of Success
Godzilla
Kuroneko
Kiss Me Deadly

There are more, but those are just a few of my faves.

Any ideas as to why Criterion priced Fanny and Alexander (3 BDs) at $59.95 and Three Colors (3 BDs) at $79.95 ($20 more)?

F & A is one film (2 cuts). Three Colors is 3 seperate films. all things considered, Three Colors is priced nicely.

I would guess it's because fanny and alexander is one movie (albeit in two versions) while three colors is three distinct films.

OUCH.
I've never had an order delay e-mail from Barnes and Noble, but I got one for the Three Colors trilogy. This was pretty much the only Criterion I was interested in getting during this sale. What usually happens when this happens? Does Barnes and Noble cancel the order or something? If it ships after the sale ends, do we still get it for 50% off?

It's the opposite in Canada:

Three Colors: 80.73 MSRP, 56.90 AMZ.CA Price
Fanny & Alexander: 82.99 MSRP, 66.99 AMZ.Ca Price

Pretty sure B&N can't up the price after you're locked in on it for you online order. Only if they cancel your order, and you try to re-order after the sale, will they charge you more.

Greetings, in my opinion, more likely not. Films starring Sabu!, while memorable for some who grew up with the films, the three titles on the Eclipse will probably not be released on Blu-ray as part of the Criterion Collection.

We (in media) just received the Criterion February press release this morning, expect Pro-B to post it on the thread soon.... A lot of cool titles, films I have never seen before!

And also after watching the trailer I know which release I'm definitely going to refrain from purchasing.

My mistake, I initially looked at the graphs at 5:30 AM without my glasses on.

That's a bit shallow, and mean. She's not skinny like 95% of the Hollywood starlets, but she's not fat either.

Malle? You mean Kurosawa?

Malle is at 11 films (same as Godard mind you), while Kurosawa is at 16. Bergman is at 14, Bunel & Fellini have 9 a piece, and Truffaut has 8.

Chaplin currently has 2 films in the collection. So I think it's safe to say we are a long ways off from it turning into The Chaplin Collection.
