No Glengarry Glen Ross? Shelley Levene might be my favorite Lemmon role and given some of the stuff you listed that's obviously saying something.

I need to catch Avanti! one of these days too. It shows up on TCM all the time but something or another always winds up bumping it.

I see you guys are looking for the Suzuki films. Why not buy them from the source, Criterion!!

They are $32 each and free shipping over $50, so that covers both titles. Spend $500 sooner or later and get a $50 gift card. No sales tax either. The retailers, including Amazon need to make some profit back since they are still sorting through all those coupons and discounts they were giving out....

It's one of my favorite films. It's also kind of ironic in that it's probably David Mamet's best film but it's not widely considered a Mamet film because he didn't direct it.

I have noticed that none of the books on BN.com seem to have a pick-up option. Has this always been the case?

At any rate, I reserved Branded To Kill so I guess I'm buying it tomorrow!
Joe...see if you can get them to hold it until SUNDAY. I called my local Barnes and Noble and have CONFIRMED:

Barnes and Noble: Sunday December 18 - Saturday December 24 - ALL Blu-Rays 40% off!
I've had them put a copy of Branded to Kill aside for me. I'll have to stop by Friday and ask them to hold it until Sunday/Monday. They are usually pretty good about doing that for me.

If I were you I would add "Glengary, Glenross" to that list, one of his finest performances. Would love to see Criterion release that.

Missing is another great performance of his that you need to see, was dissapointed when that one came out and criterion only issued it on DVD.

thats even BETTER than the Criterion 50% sale as these will be off their in store prices and NOT the MSRP they do on the 50% off sale Now to pick up the ones I passed up on during the last Criterion sale....everything else will still be too expensive as B&N prices are all at MSRP

I'm pretty sure their 40% is off MSRP and it doesn't really matter all that much anyway as their instore price for Criterions is ten percent off MSRP.

In the U.S. that's totally legal under the copyright law, although breaking copy protection to do it is a grey area.

As of right now in Canada, it's legal too, unless they passed that stupid copyright reform. I know a lot of people on this forum have a fit whenever anyone mentions ripping copies for personal use, which is why I said it was a grey area.

I think everyone's guilty of piracy at some point, but we all do it for different reasons.

The first post in that thread is always pretty up-to-date with member coupons. If you were a Borders Rewards member you might have additional stuff pop up in your email.

i just got the worst used criterion in the mail today from a seller who is fulfilled by amazon. it came in a generic black dvd case, no artwork, the book's front cover was all torn off cept for the bottom of it , and the pages are all ripped.
all the item listing said was no front artwork, way way way misleading
it was Le Cercle Rouge (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

I have a feeling this one is really obvious, but for some reason I'm drawing a blank.

For the love of film please let that be Cockfighter!

And please let them have another ex-Anchor Bay release with Out of the Blue. Them 2 together would be the best month ever.

First Two Lane Blacktop from Eureka now Cockfighter. Lots of interest in Monte Hellman then.
