I'll prob pass seeing as I will be the only one wanting Philippe Garrel's Les hautes solitudes. So you can put me in last place if I vote or don't.

Nope, but others probably will now that you mentioned it.

I was thinking more along the lines of how many freaking titles there are, and how are we supposed to narrow it down to just one?

It's a fill in the blank type poll, not a click from these titles that are listed. Therefore, there's a chance that you could have 50 different titles with one vote, rather than 1-2 titles with 10 votes, and 3 or 4 with 5.

No pending charge yet. I emailed them Friday morning and a woman named Claire got back to me saying they should ship today. Lot of orders to fulfill from the sale she said. Again, nothing has been taken out of my account yet.

Understood, but there isn't anything that will come out of this but seeing "Brazil", "Life Aquatic", "The Game", or "Badlands" as the top requested movie.

I agree that's probably what will happen. As much as I enjoyed Brazil and Life Aquatic, I'd like to see some more interesting stuff from Criterion fans.

I also agree that The Departed was hugely overrated. The best thing about Gangs of New York was Daniel Day Lewis.

Taxi Driver is his best work in my opinion, and one of my personal favorite films. Raging Bull and GoodFellas are also, obviously, amazing films. I would put The Departed right up there with those 3. It is such a well-cut film with fantastic performances. The Aviator is fantastic as well. I was a little dissapointed with Gangs of New York and regard it as one of his lesser works. I also very much enjoyed Shutter Island, and Hugo is also fantastic. I have yet to see King of Comedy, After Hours, or Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, but they all look very good. Actually, wouldn't any of those 3 make great Criterion additions??

I like this idea as well. I'd like to know what the films are for each one though, although I'm not sure how we can avoid posting them in a list format, in order to avoid upsetting CCfixx.

Although, SB does have a point, as much as people whine about Criterion being too mainstream with their releases, the top most requested films will probably be mainstream releases everyone complains about.

You could argue that this poll will give us some ideas as to what films we should be watching, once it is released, outside of the 4 you said would be the top choices.

Double Indemnity is very close to a perfect film.

Stalag 17, The Fortune Cookie and Sabrina are very good.

I'm not that crazy about The Lost Weekend but a lot of people love it.
