What do you mean someone? There are countless people in this thread who are already waiting for that to happen.

To be honest, I think it doesn't matter if a film get a Criterion treatment, some fans are going to ruin it for the others. Check out the thread on The Artist, where fans of the film basically called people who said it was merely good and/or ok, uncultured schlubs who preferred films like Jack and Jill, and were to immature to appreciate the fantastic beauty of The Artist. However, that shouldn't prevent people from buying/enjoying a film.

Not to mention Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. I think those guys make the Trekkies look like Barney and Friends.

Mention Star Trek cause that's the one that came to my mind first but yeah Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings thread can also be extremely vicious

Twilight fans often bare their fangs when people trash their sparkly undead, emotionless characters.

Godfather fans are pretty uptight too. Not to mention those who are fans of Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Terrence Malick, or David Fincher films.

Any chance Criterion might issue an upgrade of Wise Blood? I was just over in the book to film adaptation thread under the movies section, and mentioned that I'd like to see more Flannery O'Connor brought to film/TV, as Wise Blood is the only one I can think of.

Try having a rational discussion about "In The Realm Of The Senses" Or "I Spit On Your Grave". i was going to throw in "Fat Girl" but it was a blind buy and i haven't seen it yet.
Yes, i'm aware of the ending.

You know what fans are surprisingly rabid and scary as hell? Laverne and Shirley fans. I made the mistake of going to a Laverne and Shirley fan site a few years ago, and haven't been back since, since much of the fan fiction reads like those three films you mentioned, since those fans always have to talk about their fan fics and argue about the "erotic scenes," rather than what actually happened in the shows themselves. It's very, very, very wrong. Also, don't even think about saying that the quality of the series went down after they moved the show to California, they'll shank you.

Laverne and Shirley fans make the Bronies look sane.

The internet is pretty darn scary in general actually, my friend once found a Wagner/Liszt slash fan fic while doing research for a music paper.

Has anyone written an erotic story about the Guns & Roses guitarist urinating on a clone of himself? (Slash-slash-Slash slash fic...)

I'm not prepared to google that one. I'm sure if someone had, it would have been showcased on Topless Robot's Fan Fiction Fridays, complete with Rob Bricken's snarky commentary, Toht face melts, Maximus looks of disgust, and head asplosions. Fan Fiction Fridays have had quite a few gems of depravity. I will say that the Garfield stories regarding the Royal Wedding were epically insane/awesome though, along the lines of Hausu. I'd love to see someone adapt them and give them the Criterion treatment.

Here's a new Titanic spoiler someone's just informed me about.

[Show spoiler]

Sorry, someone just posted this on Fark, and I, being the child that I am, found it humourous. It's also getting us back onto discussing Criterion titles, because we can now argue as to which recent title that features both subjects of the photos, is the superior release.

Gojira Eats Titanic would kill at the Box Office.

No, no
[Show spoiler]as you can see from the picture, it's Gojira's plates that cause the Titanic to sink, instead of the iceberg.

However, your plot would be epic as well. It would certainly make Titanic a lot more bearable for me, and may even cause me to tune out Celine Dion's horrible warbbling screeches.

Yes, i'm aware of the ending.

It's funny these movies were mentioned. While I thought Realm of the Senses was good, Fat Girl is one of a very few Criterion Blu's I've bought, watched, and sold. Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought the end was utterly pointless.

If I had to rate I Spit on Your Grave, I would literally give it a 1 out of 10. I consider myself pretty open minded and do not have any problem watching graphic and/or disturbing moivies (Martyrs anyone?), but there was nothing to me about that movie that was remotely good. The acting was terrible, the dialogue was terrible, the plot was pointless, etc, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure I watched this and Last House on the Left (1972) the same night and the latter seemed like a masterpiece after watching I Spit on Your Grave.

I'm catching up...

Got to BRANDED TO KILL this past weekend and loved it. There's something about black-and-white crime films that just works for me -- be it noirs or stylish pieces like this one. I can see myself revisiting the film again and again. I can watch this kind of a film in any mood I'm in. I'll get to Tokyo Drifter next weekend.

Tokyo Drifter's fun. I actually prefer that one a wee bit more. Schmaltzy 1960s Asian psychedelic/garage band pop/rock is a guilty pleasure of mine. You haven't lived until you've listened to Ronnie Ong cover Bob Hope's "Buttons and Bows," or Nancy Sit, "the Cantonese Nancy Sinatra," cover I'm a Believer. Sakura Teng makes "Puppet on a String" much more listenable. There's a ton of stuff out there from all over Asia from the 1960s I highly recommend people check out.
