Was anyone complaining that it was a waste because the originals were available, even if you had to pay a ton of money to get a first printing?
But also take into consideration that those Beatles albums wasn't taking up chances of "obscure" Beatles albums or Beatles albums that has never been released on LP/CD.

The hologram will be better than the real thing because you'll be surrounded by virtual people. In fact, maybe they'll even be optional. Like subtitles.

Ha!

And on a side note, I would be pissed if "Bad Brains" was no longer available after the band broke up, because "Pay to C*m" is one of my all time favorite songs.

True, but I have never bought the idea that one release prevents another release. I have never seen any convincing evidence to support this point. Not to start the argument again, because I realize there is lots of disagreement about this point.

It could be "let's pick one or the other" but what I was trying to say is one could very well push another title back (example: We got 5 releases for September. If they didn't release The Game, no telling what we could of got in September instead. Now that mystery movie that still doesn't have a release waits.).

I have a feeling that at some point we're going to be seeing a DVD/blu-ray release of that holographic concert performance of Tupac, yes? The cover better dang well be lenticular!

...or maybe the money generated from them will allow for the BD upgrade for more "obscure" titles. Gotta pay the bills.

Back, maybe. But I think it is highly unlikely that Criterion would decide, for example, that they have to cancel Bicycle Thieves because they wanted to release The Game. The releases will still come. But hey, if it were any other way what would we argue about between announcement days?

People seem to say that every month, so I can't wait until next year to see the reason we got Godzilla, Being John Malkovich, Rosemary's Baby, and The Game. Being Sarcastic.

Fact is 4 years ago, they were releasing great films for the first time on dvd without releasing any of these "bigger titles will help release obscure films" films and they seemed to be doing fine. I just think they are pushing towards a different market than years ago.

Thanks, obviously my words have been ignored, since people are still arguing about releases. I don't like titles, I just say meh and go after the ones I do like. A Safe Place is the exception to that rule though. So while I don't like The Game, I'm not going to begrudge others who do.

Re: Zodiac. From my understanding, a lot of people missed out on it because it didn't drop to an "acceptable price," ie, under 15 bucks or something. I think people expect too much too often on this forum, and hold a sense of entitlement. They're just mOvies, they're not exactly an essential need. There are a lot of things that are released on a limited basis, and most people don't cry foul over that. If people like this stuff as much as they proclaim they do, then why don't they buy it when they can if they know that there's a slight chance it could be taken away? Sales are cool and all, but sometimes people focus too much on monetary value rather than personal enjoyment.

Thoughts on Eating Raoul? I've never seen it.

Edit: I have a feeling it may be the next Tiny Furnature of the forum.

The only thing I'm buying in September is The Game. I need to complete Fincher's filmography.

I've been there twice already, and will be heading to New England during Canadian Thanksgiving. I'll get the hockey sticks ready.
