Is it worth picking Belle De Jour up from Criterion if one already owns the StudioCanal Collection edition from Europe?

I liked the color tones on the SC version better (only comparing screenshots, I don't own the CC version), and the SC extras sounded more interesting.

Not really. I didn't HATE the film as such, but Mitchum's performance was way too broad and upfront. He might as well have worn a PSYCHO HERE t-shirt. That said, the film has some spectacular B&W compositions. But yeah, I have no desire to watch it more than once, which is why I didn't go in for the BD despite it having such an awesome sounding package.

Someone on the Mubi forums found a listing for Kwaidan on Blu from Amazon. They said the same thing happened before Videodrome and Darjeeling Limited were released. Who knows, maybe it is an early hint, or maybe it's just a listing they put out. Only time will tell.

I think you missed the point.
Just because you have the extra ability doesn't mean you always have to use it.

For an example of why new sound remixes aren't a good thing, I need look no further than my region 3 Shaw Bros collection. To each their own, but to me the extra sound effects and mix are as jarring as those Batman sound effect call-out cards -- Bang! Zap! Pow!

Dude, space birds. Think about it. It'd be awesome!

With the recent death, I'm surprised this hasn't been moved to the forefront of the upgrade list.

I have a quick question, maybe some of you have experienced this before.
On June 5 I bought The Seventh Seal CC Blu from Amazon - it was $18.81 in my gold box - amazing random deal. It shot back up to $25 like 2 days after, and now its up to $33 (!)
So, they originally told me 7-10 days until it would ship. After about 2 weeks it said another 7-10 days. Now, I get an email from them asking if I want to cancel the order or continue to wait until they can "find it". In the my orders section of the site it doesn't even give an estimate it just says "We'll notify you when we're ready to ship" but yet on their site you can buy it with Prime and have it delivered by Monday for $33.
Did I just get taken by Amazon? Or will they eventually send out my Blu whenever they make their money off the stock or something? What the hell happened?

It's been listed there for years. We're all still waiting...

Beware of the Blob! It's attacking TCM right now. Alas, their HD version does not appear to be HD but it could be because mys parents monster bad keeps cutting out and resetting settings on the tv, satellite receiver, etc.

I also want this baby for an October upgrade, Moreso than Rosemary's Baby.

Blind buy Night of the Hunter. One of my favourites. I'm goj g to hunt around for the novel.

The iPhone is crap for typing put posts on.

Agreed, but also I thought the child actors weren't that great, quite mannered and stilted and I found that quite offputting when I first watched it. When I finished and kind of thought about it a bit (and the fairytale aspect of it), it really grew on me and I kind of thought it didn't matter that much... it's not like the film was really going for realism. The second time I watched it I totally loved it. The scenes on the lake are some of my favourite film sequences ever.

Another thing that bothered me at first was that all the women in it come off as kind of weak and stupid... until you get to Lillian Gish who turns that around really nicely

The beautiful thing about having college roommates who also love Criterion are that I can put off buying certain titles they already own for the time being.

I usually only buy two Criterions during the sale, this is the first time I might be tempted for three.

My options so far:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Blow Out
Beauty and the Beast
The Last Temptation of Christ
The Lady Vanishes
Cul-De-Sac

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't think the others have much replay value, especially Last Temptation. That's just my opinion though.

But be careful, Criterion titles can become OOP very quickly as rights changes hands.

Wish List for the B&N Sale:

Yojimbo/Sanjuro Boxset
High and Low
The Killing
Late Spring
A Night To Remember
Anatomy of a Murder
Three Colors Trilogy

Will only pick up around 3 or 4.

I am very new to Criterion with only around 11 or 12 discs. Are there any must have blurays from the CC that I should pick up? (that I do not have on my list)

Just watched The Night of the Hunter and I loved it. Well worth a buy, IMO.

For the sale I'm thinking of buying 3 out of these possibilities:

Paths of Glory
8 1/2
12 Angry Men
Cronos
Seven Samurai
Stagecoach
Rushmore
Bottle Rocket
Antichrist
Branded to Kill
Godzilla
