![]() I think November would be a good time to release Tokyo Story, while the current interest in it is strong. This financially would be a win-win for them. They are also due for a Kurosawa...Red Beard, Ikiru, Druken Angel and/or The Bad Sleep Well would be welcome. |

Why reinvent the wheel and release a film with a decent to good package, as this only cuts back on the other, more obscure films that are dying to be released. |

I have to admit Shell...I'm not a big Samurai film fan...but I tried to watch as much of the Trilogy as I could and I was impressed by the great acting of Mifune and the great PQ of those films. They looked wonderful on TCM! I might even consider the Trilogy box during the next sale...just wish they'd drop the price a tad.

I think you're being a bit too Canadian.

![]() We all have our favorite films that we would love to be released in a decent package with adequate picture & audio quality, but when there are so many other films without a blu-ray release [*cough* Thrashin' (1986)] it doesn't seem needed to re-release that can still be found for a price if someone is willing to pay. Where are you from again? I'm surprised you know about it unless the debacle concerning disabled access to the second, newer location and it's boycott have made national/international news.
I think the place is overrated, and can think of better restaurants in the city. ![]() |

It always amazes me how people can be judged by a forum post. Aren't we all fans of film ? Why have frivolous debates over whether or not Zodiac should be a Criterion release ? C'mon guys lets all get along
![]() In the middle of all the pages of bickering there is some information about the topic -The Criterion Collection Apparently next year Criterion will release the Man Who Knew Too Much from 1934 -this is a great Hitchcock suspense thriller with Peter Lorre Any fans of this film ? Peace, all Be kind Last edited by dsman71; 08-10-2012 at 02:04 PM. |

I don't think (most) people here believe Zodiac is unworthy of a Criterion release, especially given other films in the collection. It's just that there's really nothing Criterion could improve upon the version Paramount already released here. It has great specs and is overladen with extras. Paramount just needs to bring it back from OOP for whatever reason: all putting a big 'C' on the cover will do is raise the MSRP.

Well I would like to see some of the films MoC is releasing come to Criterion like Gate of Hell, The Passion of Joan of Arc. Still can't figure out after that long extensive ( 5 years?) restoration of Die Nibelungen we have yet to have a announcement on this side of the Atlantic. Also I'm dying to see Vampyr and the Josef von Sternberg box set on Blu. Being a huge Clouzot fan I'm still hoping someday to see Le Corbeau in HD or maybe Quai des Orfèvres. Then of course: Wild Strawberries, La Samourai, Brazil. Another one i want to see is Hawks 1932 Scarface. Far superior film then the later remakes. There is a ton of interesting history and backstory to it. However the film never gets the attention is deserves IMO. Then one of my guilty pleasures Blood for Dracula. Udo Kier cracks me up in that one everytime.
