No argument there...and Scorsese is a supporter of Criterion. I don't know if Fox would be willing to hand it to them.

They updated their website...the price is now $19.99 and should be available in-store on release day.

If you're ordering online...shipping is free. If you go "in-store"...you get an additional 10% off and the use of any member coupons/coupon codes if applicable. The $8 coup is a big help with the larger Eclipse and BD boxsets.

Thanks!

It looks like maybe all the content isn't up yet. Although, he does have some excellent interviews up.

I'd love to see Before Sunrise and Before Sunset given a release, but a new film is coming out next year so maybe a Sunrise trilogy set? They're so worthy and need a Blu-ray release full stop!

Does anybody think there's a chance that future popular titles like this one (at this point there's about one every month) will be treated similarly? That would be great.

....annnnd I got Rosetta in today and can't wait to watch it after wanting to see it for, literally, years

You talk about a title that I'm just clamoring to see on blu - it unbelievably did not get a DVD release...though given that it's well-known for its mutilation that's not totally unbelievable I guess. And I'd love to see the released version too, not just the TCM restoration that utilizes stills to flesh out the plot.

But yeah, not holding my breath for this one unfortunately.

Wholly agreed.

I believe a release of this is imminent, remember reading about it a while back. It would be great for another Scorsese title to be added to the collection - and hopefully paired with Who's That Knocking at My Door? in some way - even though that is A) a Warner's title and B) would've understandably worked best paired with Mean Streets anyway.

While we're on Scorsese, another Warner's title that needs to be released is After Hours. And wouldn't it be a dream if Criterion could handle that one! Man, I understand Warner's stance about licensing it's catalog, and they really do a terrific job by and large with their catalog, too. But with their sheer number of titles and their yen for re-releasing some of the most high-profile ones every couple of years, it'd be nice to see them be a little more friendly on the licensing front.

Spike Lee has confirmed a blu-ray release of 25th Hour, and some suspect it is through Criterion based on how he answered the question. Pure speculation, but it would be awesome.

I go back and forth on whether early SNL or SCTV was the best damned skit show ever. I learned to speak Canadian from watching the McKenzie brothers. Beauty, eh?

Oddly, Warner released it as a download on iTunes. I still have hope for a release - perhaps next year when MGM and Warner Bros are apparently celebrating anniversaries

I would like some more Kurosawa from Criterion. Like Rashoman and Red Beard.

And Throne of Blood and The Hidden Fortress! Criterion needs an all-Kurosawa month and get it over with!

Cold soup issues...that's some talk for an entrapreneur who doesn't ever have to worry about money, since Mom hit the jackpot with White-Out!
FTFY, Micky doesn't have an e. Mike's Facebook is quite fascinating actually. He's far more open about his life now, than he was when he was younger. He's actually more Peter-like with philisophical musings than Peter is these days.

To be fair, many directors get a chance to 'OK' their stuff for home video release with the film not being on Criterion. Woody Allen is involved with his releases as far as approving the color timing and such.
