Re: Michael Mann - Thief has been on the buzz list since being mentioned in some article or another a year or two ago.

It would be a decent enough fit (as good a fit as Blow Out and better than a couple others, at any rate).

For Ken Russel, like everybody else I'd love for Warner to let The Devils out of the grasp but since that's not likely put me down for The Lair of the White Worm. Part guilty pleasure, part time capsule, part genuinely decent erotic-comic-horror.

Howard Hawks would be Red River and Michael Mann would be Thief, both of which have been confimed as held by Criterion. But who knows when these will actually get released.

Mario Peixoto

If Limite gets announced today, I'd be like Scrooge on Christmas Day (after his change of heart, obviously).

Damn. I knew it could possibly be Thief, but I was hoping for The Insider since I doubt Disney would ever splurge for a special edition for that flick.

The thread seems to be awefully quiet today ! Especially if we consider these are the November announcements (Supposably Criterion's "Big" month of the year). They are taking so long !!!!

Nolan will most def be the much-rumored Following.

The Kioyshi Kurosawa is the news to me. He's one of my favorite working directors. I can see an upgrade from the non-anamorphic HVE DVDs of Charisma (least probability) and Cure (his best IMO and my most wanted) - HVE is also Janus films. My gut tells me it'll be Tokyo Sonata, though, which is a critical darling, still absolutely brilliant, and on the Masters of Cinema label in the UK already in HD.

EDIT: Let's hope the Gondry film is Human Nature, so Hilary Duff can finally enter the Criterion Collection.

The Kiyoshi Kurosawa is Cure, which has been up on Hulu for a while. Criterion seem to have Coen on the horizon too.

Anything Kurosawa that hasn't already been upgraded needs to be!

I was hoping those empty slots before Rosemary's Baby would be some kind of 3-movie David Lynch box set...Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr., and Inland Empire, or something. Who knows...

It's kind of exciting to see all of these directors have their own pages. They can't possibly release all of these in one month! Can they???

I don't know much about him beyond the wide release stuff but I was looking at his filmography (ie IMDB list) and kept thinking of the Hollis Frampton set.
