I know how most of you feel about David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, and Wes Anderson. So I was wondering what Modern American Filmmaker should be presented in the collection in your guys opinion? Obviously the three mentioned aren't very popular in this forum so I'm curious to know which you guys think is, oh I hate to say this, Criterion worthy? Also I am aware Nolan is not American so let's just say American/British.

IMO its not so much that a director is mainstream more then they are just ordinary dime a dozen directors. I think Wes Anderson definitely fits into the collection. I admire Fincher and Nolan on a technical level and have always liked Fincher's dark approach to material, but I've always considered Criterion more of a arthouse and foreign film label and none of their films fit that bill to me. Plus they have no problems getting their films released. That being said I have no problem with Criterion releasing popular directors works that are ignored by the other studio's.

I dont know if the word *worthy* is the best word. They take what they can everything from some classic American or Foreign to a movie like Goke Bodysnatcher from Hell or X from Outer Space
I hope some of the titles I want get released soon - Criterion does the best job for their prices. At least its not barebones for 35.00 like Twilight Time sheesh ![]() |

Off the top of my head, I'd like David O Russell to get Spanking the Monkey in the CC. |

Based upon the previous 2 posts, I'd like to see:
Sofia Coppola: both Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette (Although Lost In Translation might be the best fit, but since it already has a Blu...) David O. Russell: I Heart Huckabees |
