Oh, I know. I'm just saying all Tenenbaums does is move Life Aquatic up a space. Releasing Brazil encourages people to ask for The Fountain.

Which truthfully is fine with me. People clamor for stuff I don't really want all the time and life goes on. I joke about it but I don't really care.

To the extent I had a point at all it was that the people clamoring for stuff I don't want won't be running out anytime soon.

Tokyo Story 6-1
Picnic at Hanging Rock 9-1

What do you know, the favorite came in. Too bad I can't handicap the horses this well.

Interesting thought: we've now had 2 years worth of New Years clues that have included Y Tu Mama Tambien and it still hasn't been released!

Sweet, I'm in for all the titles except Following. Not a Nolan fan.

This is correct, yes.

And yeah, these titles will sell so that's good for the label. I mean I'm not really hating here, just commenting on the fact that many of those such titles that I'm *not* interested in have been released.

Full disclosure: if Le Samourai (new scan), the Antonionis, Thief, and Jules and Jim had been among the 'most requested' batch that had been released this year, I'd have been giddy.

When the initial deal Criterion made with IFC was announced three years ago, Following was one of the titles that was announced. At the time, the 10 titles they had made the deal for were:

A Christmas Tale
Gomorrah
Che
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Following
Everlasting Moments
Summer Hours
Hunger
Still Walking
The Secret Of The Grain

The only one we're waiting on now is Y Tu Mama Tambien, which has been hinted at for two years in a row now, as EddieLarkin pointed out...

I'd held off picking up the von Sternberg boxset before because it was DVD, but I've earmarked this for possible November sale pickup.

Which is to say, yes I agree The Blue Angel is the best announcement of the day.

Seems like Criterion cleared a few off the shelf that had been pending for a while.

I'll pass on Brazil and Following. Nolan's films are empty calories.

I'm most interested in Purple Noon.

I was wanting Life Aquatic and Badlands...

Oh well, will probably pick up Brazil and Following at a B&N sale. Not a bad month.

Very true and I respect that. Better to have taste and preferences in art than:

Me: What kind of music do you like?
Person: I dunno, pretty much everything. I can listen to anything on the radio really LOL.

Those kinds are usually good-natured but it always makes me chuckle
