1. It's a war story. Alright not a typical one but in general I don't enjoy war stories very much

2. Isabelle Hupert. I understand that she as quite a following now after 40 years of acting but I never liked her and I really hated her in this movie

3. Not enough Christophe Lambert which would have help for me

I found the excution of the movie not that well made. Characters just jump around. The character that Hupert played was just plain annoying. She should have receive a bullet in the head before the movie even started. She goes around like she can do everything on her own but yet spend the entire movie always annoying others to help her do her work. Overall I can see why this movie is so well liked but it just did not work for me.
She was supposed to be and unlike a lot of other annoying characters, there was a point to it.

I agree with a lot of the criticisms so far but overall I thought it was pretty good and as allegories for colonialism/imperialism go she was very effective. You basically spend the entire movie wanting to shake her and say 'how do you not see all this'.

There has been the sealing issue on almost 10 titles, the cover of Harold & Maude which was redone like the day of the release (which was already delayed by 2 months), and now The Game cover luminosity (I have a copy, and based on G:Box pictures, I don't even know if mine is good or not because it's kind of between his 2 exemples).

Did they fired someone at their QC ?
Yeah, I wonder what's going on but at least they are not PQ/AQ related issues so...

My flash sale order hasn't even shipped yet, and I ordered almost as soon as the sale started.

I ordered within the first hour, then a couple hours later I made a 2nd order, then later that night I made a 3rd order.

The first order shipped already and is going to be at my house when I get home.

The third order shipped today (or I got the notice today) and was mainly replacement cases and one movie.

Nothing yet on the second order, and it was for old titles that they should have plenty of. But it was also the lowest-cost order where I used a $50 certificate I just earned on the first order, so maybe they gave it lower priority or are waiting to make sure they get the money that put me over 500 points?

Pumped, my flash order shipped today and is priority!

Interesting tidbit, while going through the Criterion catalog again I noticed that they have released blu-rays of every film in their catalog from spine #1 - #30 (for which they still have the rights to) with the exception of two films: "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and "Summertime."

Both NEED updates. In fact most of the leftover titles that haven't been upgraded for the first 150 spines or so NEED updates.

Arrow's region B release of Picnic at Hanging Rock is awfully good. Do we need a US release? Eh, maybe.

We certain don't NEED one though

No, they just have those on the sound for Carlos (now corrected), the sound on White (now corrected), the framing on Blue (not corrected), and using the Pathe master on Children of Paradise (although it's not as bad as I've read, there is certainly a lot of smoothing going on).

What are these wacky lambs??? They look like '50s greasers. I'm terrible with the clues.

Of course I am aware of those issues and I was merely responding to his post about the packaing/cover issues.

Judging their current release plan we can say that Badlands is a strong possibility for January. Wish these hints were more difficult, like last year's The Moment of Truth bull.

Thank you! Now we can put this to rest. Looks like Criterion cracked the Warner shell at last.

So what will be the next film everyone will obsess about?
