I told them I'd call back next week.
They lost an order I placed on the 30th as well. To make matters worse, it was an in-store purchase and the rep had typed my email incorrectly, so I got no confirmation. The website threatened to lock me out when I tried to look up the order too many times!

For those of you having trouble tracking in-store orders through your local store, try the following retail number, as the main outlet number is out of commission due to the weather:

1-800-843-2665

My retail store had told me the order was fine, but I had a bad feeling when the website kicked the order number back at me, and it's a good thing: the distribution rep told me the order had disappeared, and re-submitted it as pre-paid.

Just bought Dazed and Confused on Criterion at B&N. Can anybody help me decide if it would be worth it to buy Traffic Criterion when Walmart has the regular Blu-ray for $7.88?

Is there a big difference in picture and sound on the Criterion? The film has blown out color filters throughout, so my guess is it wouldn't be that much different.

DVD Beaver has screenshot comparisons, but I highly recommend the Criterion edition for its bonus features (including three audio commentaries).

Thank you. How are the deleted scenes. I was most interested in seeing Catherine Zeta Jones Funzone meeting scene because the scene where she takes the people the doll is riveting.

I can tell the difference between the regular Blu-ray and Criterion. Criterion looks perfect. Regular Blu-ray looks almost perfect.

I’m very interested in buying Godard’s Weekend but I’m not sure if it guarantees a blind buy. Anyone who’s seen it, care to share any insights? Thanks!

I'm actually a bit split on this. It's very surreal and has moments of dark humour. Possibly not for everybody. It gets darker as the film progresses. It features:
[Show spoiler]cannibalism, implied rape using a fish with raw eggs as a lubricant, killing off a pig and chicken
-- and that's just on its final 15 minutes. It's a very different Godard film from the others released in Criterion blu-ray.

What do you guys think will be announced for February 2013 in about 1.5 weeks?

I'm thinking Eclipse Series 38, a Bergman upgrade, and 2 or 3 new films.

I hope Wild Strawberries will be the Bergman upgrade. I’ve been waiting for that one for ages!

On another note, does anyone know why Rashomon and Weekend are priced 34.04 and not 19.99 like the others? I thought the sale was until Nov. 19.

What do you think will be the next Eclipse? I was pretty sure the Pierre Etaix films were going to be Eclipse but with all the care Janus took I seriously doubt they will dump them there . I want another surprise, something unexpected, radical/experimental cinema if possible .

Pre-orders have now been discounted from the sale. Once they release tomorrow, the price for those titles will be adjusted. Why you can't pre-order them, I don't know.

What are the chances we'll see an upgrade on Notorious, Rebecca, Spellbound, or all 3?

None. The rights reverted back to MGM years and years ago and they have all since seen Blu-ray releases from them. It's safe to pick them up.

I hope to see Badlands and Y Tu Mama Tambien just so we can stop talking about them.

At some point this year I suspect The Life Aquatic will show up.

My 1 in a 1,000 Criterion want is a release for Wendy and Lucy.

I'd honestly rather have either the faith trilogy (Through A Glass Darkly, Winter Light, The Silence) or Autumn Sonata (since it has never even been anamorphic). However, I'd gladly welcome more Bergman on blu.

Sweet, I pre-ordered everything for the rest of the year while they were still 50% off. Those orders better stand.

WENDY AND LUCY is a great film and has my vote!

I would like to see Oshima's BOY.
