I'd love to see this as well. There's a UK or French blu out already, I believe, so there's a master out there. It's a tricky one, because of the way Zsigmond post-flashed the negative, I could see many people complaining over the PQ even when it's 100% correct.

And per his request the films will be cut into 3 parts that will be released over the next 3 years.

I'm just wondering if it will be something that no one has seen coming or if it will be a big one that has been hinted at or rumored like Y Tu Mama Tambien, Eraserhead or Badlands.

They've released a few Trilogies already (on BD) I would be inclined to think (assuming there is any 'substantial' meaning/intent behind their tweet) that "BIG" is more than any trilogy, and possibly more than any single title.

A lot of releases, a big box set, etc.....

How about Before Sunrise, Before Sunset. Those are among my top 25 favorite movies and would make a great criterion set. The third one will be released in 2013, so it would be the perfect time.

Yeah, this could all obviously be wishful thinking but that was my impression too. Some sort of stirring in the force beyond even a wildly popular title announcement.

Edit: and even it all turns out to be a huge letdown I have to say, I didn't really realize how much I've missed that 'kid on Christmas eve' feeling announcement days used to have.

They could release something that is both highly requested and substantial: a Chaplin set.

Criterion did mention on their Facebook page that Fanny and Alexander was released today 30 years ago.

Default Red Curtain Trilogy

I would love it if Criterion would do Baz Luhrmann's Red Curtain Trilogy: Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge!

Ballroom is not owned by Bazmark Films so it would be hard to get rights to all 3. One can dream though...

I heard they're going to re-release all their titles, but with different spine numbers, just to take advantage of all the completists.
