I still remember the first time I saw Eraserhead. It was in the mid to late 70s (probably during it's initial release) at an art house type of theater in Milwaukee, WI called the Oriental Theatre (... a great theatre which is still running today). I remember going to a bar across the street from the theatre after the show. Several other movie goers were there as well. I remember the excitement in the air about the movie we just saw ... and talking with others about it. And the movie was powerful enough that I still remember my thoughts from that viewing. As I said to one of the other movie goers ... "I don't have any idea what I just saw, but it had to have meant something" ... if that makes any sense. Actually, I found the movie very "disturbing", but there was something there that made me want to watch it again. Hard to explain. ... like I didn't get it, but I thought there was something there that I should have gotten.

As an aside (and this has nothing to do with Eraserhead) but I still remember it:
[Show spoiler]At the bar that night, another movie goer offered me a job as sort of a film editor for a company that made educational/instructional types of films. I turned it down as I was just starting school at that point, but I often wonder where my life would have gone if I had accepted it.

I presume they still have the OCN in archive, but no one sees the profit in the creating new masters.
Timely article, mate. Thanks for posting the link.

I have voiced similar feelings after seeing the majority of Lynch's pictures for the first time. To try and "connect all of the dots" and grasp all of the different subtexts is seemingly impossible in the initial viewing. The strangeness of his works is always what lures me in for more.

Are you going to see the spine more than the cover because you hate the cover, or hate the movie (but need it in your collection)?

After I watched Mulholland Drive for the first time this past summer, I was researching it for a good couple of days at work to get all of the underlying meanings lol.

True story. I love Mulholland Dr. and Lost Highway for those reasons. I would welcome them to the Collection any day! I don't see Universal, or whatever studio has the rights, releasing them any time soon.

I love psychological thrillers and movies that force you to think and research post-movie.

I picked it up during the BN.com sale in November so I guess I have to get to watching it A.S.A.P.

Last Year in Marienbad and Mulholland Drive have a strong affinity, and they can be especially complementary
[Show spoiler]if you take the view that the latter is a sort of ghost story

What are the chances that we'll see a Criterion of Judgment At Nuremberg. The DVD is OOP and I'd really like to see it.

I only look at my Criterions because they're kept in the TVs stand, so I see them whole waiting for a disc, tape, game or Dolenz to boot up on screen. I'm usually thinking if how to arrange them more efficiently, so they fit in the stand.

Got Three Colors in today. Glad to finally have it on blu, I adored the films when I watched them earlier this year.

Still waiting on Weekend and a couple other Godards I ordered from B&N back in November. Starting to get a little worried, especially since I ordered Three Colors two weeks ago and it has already shown.

Just wanted to tell about a really funny incident.
I had ordered 2 Criterion Blurays when they were on sale on November.
I received these, and also I got another box too with 4 more Blurays!!
The address on the box was mine, but the receipt inside was addressed to a guy in another country..
I've sent them 2 emails, but haven't responded for over a month now..
So I guess I'm going to sell them. I am not interested in any of them except one, but even that, not so much to keep it..
Talk about luck, eh?
