Check the last few pages. There's some good discussion about it.

Yeah, whenever I'm gone for the day (like today) there's lots of posts in this thread for me to catch up on...but I feel like when I'm actually sitting looking at it, there's much less action.

You should see how fast the forum moves when there's a Best Buy: Upgrade And Save thread.

Not Criterion related, but I just watched The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. One of the most emotional films that I've ever seen and easily my favorite film of 2012. It's a very relatable film.

What's everyone else's favorite 2012 film?

(yeah, I love asking these off-topic questions on here)

U2's "Until the End of the World" was also on the soundtrack for the Wim Wenders film of the same name, which really belongs on the Criterion queue. That movie had such a wonderful soundtrack, and I wore that CD out during my college years. I never had a chance to see the film itself, though.
There is a German DVD import of the entire 6 hour film which is what I recommend if you can find a copy. I just watched this a few months ago and was struck by how much Wender's futuristic set designs and technology must have inspired Cuaron's CHILDREN OF MEN. Of course I will now state the obvious: I wish Criterion would release the full version on blu.

Favorite film of 2012?

I haven't seen Haneke's film yet (I'm importing the blu next month) but so far I would say HOLY MOTORS with THE MASTER close behind.

I felt last year was weak in good films. None of them stood out enough to venture a view. I have high hopes for this year.

I never go to theaters anymore and my idea of rushing to see a new release is putting it at the top of my NetFlix queue so I have yet to see a lot of 2012 films.

That all said, Chronicle or Haywire would probably be my favorites so far.

I really liked Chronicle and I was able to buy into it which I think it what really impressed me about it.

I really don't know why I liked Haywire so much. It wasn't really all that good but it was very well-executed and there was something its 70s euro feel that really appealed to me.

I don't either. I only saw 3-4 movies at the theaters this year. I typically don't go at all because it's much cheaper to just wait for the Blu-ray release a few months later.

The Grey

This film blows me away every time. It also makes a great double feature with Letter Never Sent.

I have to confess I didn't care for it very much..I'm probably one of the only ones, but I just wasn't invested in that film at all.

I think that's pretty good for January/February, when there isn't much out that (at least to me) doesn't seem interesting.

Although it was a weak year for films in general, I was glad to see Ridley Scott making sci-fi films again. I really hope that he stays away from his prior films (no more prequels or sequels) and make an original sci-fi film.

Oh - my mistake. I meant to say last year. I haven't been to the movies this year

Breathing sounds good, by the way.
