Have you seen Abre Los Ojos by Amenabar? Its his best film and miles better than the Cameron Crowe version.

No I haven't. It was on my Wish List for a while, but I got rid of it since it's only the DVD.

Very similar mood and feel. It's a lot like The Haunting too.

If you like creepy, atmospheric 'things that go bump in the night' stories then you could do a lot worse than The Innocents.

There's nothing wrong with DVDs. If you can stream it in HD then go for it, but seeing the DVD is still the best option. I'm not going to deprive myself by limiting myself to only HD/Blu ray content.

I would like to get Abre Los Ojos, Amores Perros, and Judgment At Nuremberg.

I hope that Criterion releases Judgment At Nuremberg and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.

Right... if something doesn't seem like an obvious blu candidate...DVD is just fine to me, especially when they are often so inexpensive.

I think I want to watch that over again...haven't seen it in years and have forgotten most of it.

They play those often on TCM if I'm not mistaken. Honestly, I can wait for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. The Capra film I really want is It Happened one Night

I want to say Judgment at Nuremberg shows up a lot on MGM-HD too.

I haven't seen it in two or three years. [rant about how Vanilla Sky watered down Abre Los Ojos deleted]. Anyways, it's a very unsettling film. It significantly altered my mood for hours afterwards.

When Netflix says "until", I now know it means it will expire at midnight on that date. Hopefully it will show up on Hulu in the future.

I plan to finish watching "Bob" before the weekend is over.
Just a heads up to those who have never seen Bob Le Flambeur - see it!

This film would be much better to have on Blu-ray (and possibly in the Criteiron Collection)

Someone also recommended Delon films earlier. Not part of the Criterion Collection, but La piscine is great to see on Blu-ray:

Ahh, I've been wanting to get this since I read your UK review. Almost forgot that that release existed....but it looks very appealing to me.

I have both Le Silence De La Mer and Une Femme Mariee.
As with all Godard, YMMV. I do like this film, but I prefer Vivre Sa Vie, Breathless and Le Mepris.
Le Silence De La Mer was a blind-buy and I have no regrets at all. I guess you might call it a psychological chamber piece
Honestly, it's hard to describe. It has no action and big scenes; it is just a quiet, slow drama in which two people, a father and daughter, refuse to speak to the German soldier who is billeted in their home during World War 2.
The first thing to note is that my incredibly boring description doesn't do the film justice. That's my fault. The film is not boring.
I probably shouldn't say anything more about it, except watch it.

Le Clan is also apparently coming to Blu-ray in France

Hopefully, Pathe will also bring The Professor. Their DVD release, from the big Delon collection, was very good. It should look wonderful on Blu-ray. (And I don't believe there has been an English-friendly release in the U.S.).

I love Zurlini. This is one of my favorite releases in my library (and too bad no one bothers releasing his films in the U.S.):

I'm really hoping for a Criterion edition of It Happened One Night and another Columbia Classic, From Here To Eternity.

On the topic of silent films, I want to add my own support to those recommending City Girl and Sunrise. Get them both.
Also, definitely agree with getting any Buster Keaton films, Chaplin films, Lonesome and The Phantom Carriage.
Buster Keaton's The General and Sunrise are regulars in Sight and Sound's all-time top ten lists.
I also want to say again, Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen is extraordinary.
And don't forget Fritz Lang's Metropolis - not a bad, little film
To get this back to Criterion (if not blu-ray), I also want to highly recommend 3 Silent Classics by Josef von Sternberg. Sure, they're only DVDs, but quality is very good and each film is great. Easily one of my favourite box-sets. Seriously, I think they're all 5 star films (whatever that means ) with re-watch potential. Plus, each film comes with two scores.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Les Vampires!
I've been watching an episode a night - 3 so far. Very cool.
