watched The Seventh Seal via Hulu Plus this weekend. Has to be one of the best Criterions I've seen so far. Loved how Bergman weaved the religious aspects into the film. The confession scene is one of the best scenes I've had the pleasure of watching. It is almost worth the purchase alone. Now to wait for a sale or maybe eBay...

Went to the library by my college and grabbed Au Hasard Balthazar, Ivan's Childhood, and Hiroshima, Mon Amour. Excited to dig into them in my next couple days off.

Has anyone ever not got a booklet? Just opened a sealed copy/digipack of The 400 Blows and there's the usual slit for the booklet but no booklet.

Where'd you buy it from? Maybe email Criterion?

Has anyone seen the Criterion copy of The Killing (Stanley Kubrick film)? How is it?

I didn't get a booklet when I opened my copy of KES. I emailed Mulvaney and they sent me a replacement one.

That's something that impresses me about Criterion. They act, and even if in my case I had to reach out a few times, they didn't put my replacement discs up for ransom.

Three years ago I purchased a CD directly from the label (small, but well-established) and its 20+ page CD booklet had many blurry, unreadable pages. I took pictures and emailed them, asking for a replacement. They said if I ordered another CD from their catalog they'd be glad to send a replacement. After collecting myself, I told them if they sent me a legible booklet I might one day reconsider and buy another of their titles. They acquiesced; I have not reconsidered.

Nice. I plan to watch it in the next few days. Never seen it and am excited to get a preview of this hotly anticipated release.

I'm excited for The Blob now, after seeing the cover art a few pages back. Bring it on!

I deposited my tax return today, and it took all the self-discipline that I had not to walk over to the Barnes & Noble next to the bank and clean out the Criterion Blu-ray section. I'm spending absolutely none of my tax return on Blu-rays, though, since it has to go to future races that I have over the rest of the year. I'll be making a trip to that Barnes & Noble on Badlands/Blob day, though.

I think I'm going to watch Rashomon in a little bit.

It will also be the first Japanese film that I watch
