The Life of Oharu had a perfectly fine DVD? Where?

I hear you, but if CC doesn't give me an Antonioni upgrade, I'm gonna turn into Thr King of Comedy.

As well as Babette's feast.

Why did they change the artwork for Lord of the Flies? isn't there already a 2 disc one out that does not have that cover the BD has?

glad I waited on Lord of the Flies

Well, there was an average-looking UK disc from AE that's now OOP, but I doubt the poster/troll is even familiar with the film.

In case anybody's interested, Amazon.uk has the MoC Das Testament Des Dr Mabuse steelbook for £13.17 and it's currently £12.99 directly from Eureka.

That's a pretty decent drop.

(Eureka offers free worldwide shipping but doesn't deduct VAT from the total, for one title they're probably cheaper, for multiple (non-Eureka) titles Amazon.uk is probably the way to go)

This is why I believe he just grouped the films together because they didn't release a movie he likes/familiar with.

I just got a copy of the Third Man and..ugh...the cover art is a bad ripoff (though the disc is legit). Anyone know where I can obtain a high-res replacement that would be correctly sized for the criterion sized blu ray case?

Hrmm. Right now, none of them are really jumping out at me. But, I always hover around, reading and re-reading the reviews. Most likely I will get interested in one or two of them. Having said that, I've only seen one of them (The Devil's Backbone) which I would probably upgrade, except my wife wasn't a big fan of it.

Could see me coming around on Babette's Feast or Ice Storm...

Only one Eclipse set in 2013, I wonder if it's dwindling down as a line.

You should consider Life of Oharu before those.

It really doesn't seem like a film for me. Perhaps I will attempt to watch it first if I can track it down and see.

In keeping with my new Announcement Day policy I'm going to put in an Amazon.uk order soon and I noticed some really good prices on the BFI Flipside releases.

I've read a few reviews but am pretty unfamiliar with all of the titles. Right now I'm thinking of taking a flier on Primitive London, London in the Raw, Herostratus and The Bedsitting Room.

If anybody wants to warn me off any of these or point me to other BFI Flipside titles now would be a good time.

Thanks.
Should probably go for Primitive London and London in the Raw. They'd look lovely on the shelf between It's a Wonderful Life and Singin' in the Rain.

Octagon, are you region-free? If so, I highly recommend The Deep End. If you enjoy Z-grade/outsider/fringe cinema, then you might want to check out the Andy Milligan double-feature. I'd advise previewing a bit on YouTube first though!

It's region free anyways, right?

Yes, I had thought it was B. In that case, everyone should pick up a copy - it's a really unique film that starts off as a quirky, amusing depiction of adolescent sexuality, and then takes an unexpected and startling turn. It's a dark comedy, sex comedy, character study and late 60's period piece rolled into one, with a killer soundtrack by a young Cat Stevens and hypnotic proggers Can.

I'm just repeating myself, but I agree--everyone should.

I've been wanting those two. Although, aren't they always at the price they're at right now? I kept seeing posts about them having new lower prices..

I eagerly await my copy then. Can was at one point one of my favorite bands. Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi & Future Days are incredible records.

Looking at the calendar, it appears likely The Devil's Backbone will miss the July B&N sale, assuming, you know, there is one.

That's the way it goes every year, one title always misses it by a day since the sale always ends on a Monday.

Guys, is the B&N sale online? Does one have to be a member?

I just noticed that they do actually ship internationally, so I might actually get to participate in the sale!
