Just had a rotten customer service chat with Amazon - I ordered Marienbad and Cercle Rouge in early April, during the same flurry everyone else did. My orders were processed and had delivery dates going as late as April 26. I chatted with a customer service rep to check on the status of these orders, and he told me they went out of stock and my orders can't be fulfilled. I have NEVER had an experience with Amazon like this, where my order processes and everything, and then they just flake. Very disappointing, especially since I saw both of them live at Barnes & Noble the weekend after, but passed them up because I knew I had ordered them!

You have my sympathies. It's very unfortunate.

At least it's possible to communicate with Amazon. You're pretty much screwed if the same thing happens with DeepDiscount (as far as a refund)

I don't like the whole PM idea after all, because you can't have a big chat in it.

I will propose a month schedule for May and I would like your opinions on it. As Abdrewes has stated, we need to begin the first month with a bang. We also need to ween these people into the collection, too. With that being said, here are my choices.

Week 1: The Game
Week 2: Belle De Jour
Week 3: The 400 Blows
Week 4: Seven Samurai
Week 5: 12 Angry Men

I think those two should be on the list, as they are two of Criterion's largest titles. Same with The 400 Blows.

Yeah, I want you guys to post choices you want, as well, and we will all vote on them.

I'm all for risky choices, but I personally feel as this is the first month doing this, we play it a little more safe. That's just my opinion, though!

Is there some other easy way to discuss it? Google Docs perhaps?

Wouldn't it work better if maybe each member nominated say three movies and then, with a simple poll or something, we each vote. Then at least each member is guaranteed to own at least one of the films...

I would switch out The Game for Chungking Express.

How about for the first month, we just select the top five Criterions by imdb score. That seems like a fair way to cast a wide net. After that we can go a bit more random.

I think that's an excellent idea. I would say Chungking Express, Belle De Jour, and 12 Angry Men are all great choices...then maybe two films from two other countries.
