They don't seem to have these online, except for overpriced "seller's marketplace" copies. In-store, you can find this book on a table with other $20 leatherbound collections and classics.

You may be able to find a similar cloth hardback collection, with a dust jacket instead of the embossed leather, in their bargain-priced area.
I have this exact book!

I'm a proud owner of the following Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classics...

H. G. Wells: Seven Novels
Jules Verne: Seven Novels
H. P. Lovecraft: The Complete Fiction
Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales
Hans Christian Andersen: The Complete Fairy Tales and Stories
Arthur Conan Doyle: The Complete Sherlock Holmes
Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird

I thought about buying a B&N leatherbound copy of my all-time favorite novel, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, but I've already got a superior hardback on the shelf.

I bought most of the above books a couple of years ago when I was in a phase of reconnecting with my inner 10 year-old self. I had so much fun revisiting the stories.

If Barnes & Noble ever releases the Ian Fleming James Bond 007 novels in leatherbound format, I'm there in a heartbeat.

I live in the north metro Atlanta area, so I'm required to own Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Even if it were not an unwritten requirement, though, I would still read and own it with pleasure. I need to upgrade my old battered DVD edition of the movie at some point.

Yes!

For a long time last December, Amazon had Criterion Blu-rays onsale for $17.99. I bought a ton of my Criterion Blu-rays during that sale, because I was just kick-starting my Blu-ray collection.

Take this with a grain of salt guys but the store manager indicated to me there might not be a July sale. He told me he usually gets notified of these sales 2 months in advanced and we're literally just a month away from June and he hasn't gotten word of anything.

Yep, grain of salt, my local video mgr usually doesn't get much word until a few weeks before. He said it isn't June for sure. Plus I think Criterion pushes the sale also.

Any idea if Criterion runs their own sales randomly or with some sort of regularity?

I went ahead and picked up...

If... and Ivan's Childhood at B&N.

Went over to BB and Expresslane pricematched Seven Samurai, 120 Days of Sodom (my curiosity has peaked), and Sweet Smell of Success. Only reason I didn't get them from B&N, is because B&N has the crazy sticker on it, and for boxsets like Seven Samurai or Sweet Smell, I don't take off the shrink wrap, just knife around the opening where I can pull out the blu-ray case.

Will be back for more this weekend!

A little off-topic, but what film do you think will win Cannes 2013?

Here's a list of the films being shown:
http://www.imdb.com/cannes/miniguide

I personally think, based on reviews, that Farhadi's "The Past" will win. This would be 2 wins for him, as he won for "A Separation" a couple years before.

Ah, If... I feel guilty and troubled that I love that film so much.

Like Father, Like Son seems to be the favorite. I wouldn't be surprised if Inside Llewyn Davis takes it.

One film that won't win: Only God Forgives.

Is the DVD of Le Circle Rouge of good quality? Is it a huge drop off compared to the blu ray?

I'd love to see Koreeda's Like Father, Like Son take it. Blue Is The Warmest Color could have an outside chance. Those two seem to have the brightest reception right now. I think James Gray's The Immigrant is also still in the running, but it's still yet to be seen.

My bet is on Inside Llewyn Davis by the Coens.

I might be putting too much weight on Like Father, Like Son because of my expectations and the overwhelming praise, but you could be right with that bet, especially considering who the jury is made up of.

Le Cercle Rouge was the first film with which I did a Blu-ray versus DVD comparison on my television, because I own the movie in both formats and I bought the Blu-ray on the same day that I bought a Blu-ray player. This was my first lesson in noticing some of the subtle benefits of high definition over standard definition, because the Blu-ray does not look that much more detailed than the DVD at first glance on my television, but the Blu-ray presentation ultimately has more of a natural film look and colors are more prominent. It is one of those "I cannot put my finger on why this looks better, but it does look noticeably better after a few minutes of watching it." situations. I have since had the same reaction to other Blu-rays of movies that are not necessarily demo material to impress your friends who are on the fence about Blu-ray, but nonetheless feature more of a natural film look in high definition once the viewer is immersed in the movie (The first Rocky film is another good example.).

The Criterion Blu-ray was reportedly taken from a new remaster of the 35mm movie. If you decide to go with the Criterion DVD of the film, however, you're still getting a lovely presentation of an incredible movie.

Yeah, I think my only option at this point would have to be the DVD since the blu rays prices are getting up there now. Thanks for your input.

Damn it, I'm gonna have to wait until September to pick up Seven Samurai from Criterion... unless I find it cheaper elsewhere...

re: Like Father, Like Son

Koreeda is pretty much my favorite living director (CRITERION RELEASE MORE OF HIS FILMS PLEASE AND THANK YOU) but the brief plot synopsis sounds kinda hokey. I mean, Desperate Housewives had a similar storyline in one of its last seasons, for Bree's sake.

Granted, I'm sure Koreeda will put it off much better than the writers of DH, but still.

I'd love some more Koreeda in the collection. I've only seen Still Walking and I Wish so far, but both were fantastic. He takes a very meditative, human approach to his films which fills them with stark realism. This review basically affirms that Like Father, Like Son will be exactly what I want. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayli...thood-20130518
