I only own one Masters of Cinema Blu-ray (Le Silence De La Mer), and I was hugely impressed with the detailed booklet for that release. I wanted a doctorate degree in that film when I was finished reading the material.

has the date for the Criterion B&N sale been mentioned here? Last night a friend that works there told me it would be June 1st and run the whole month, which is not how they usually do it.

Such a wonderful film. I meant to revisit my Blu-ray over this past weekend, but I did not quite have the time. I did not properly appreciate Léon Morin, Priest during my initial viewing, because it's so different than many of Jean-Pierre Melville's other films, but I grew to love it upon subsequent viewings. It's a masterful take on the subject of faith that veers in unexpected directions, and I also like the story elements regarding the French Resistance from another angle.

Quite often the "like mindedness" gets put to the test, but a little banter now and then is good for the soul.

The two films you mentioned are both available I believe, and I'm not sure of their technical merits in the versions that were released, because I have sadly yet to pick them up, but I know they have been discussed a lot since, so I'm assuming there is a little to be desired, either that, or people just want the "C" on the spine!

Criterion has posted a YouTube video of the first few minutes of Marketa Lazarová on their Facebook page.

It's a beautiful opening. I am intrigued.

The extended cut may be great, but so far the Grandmaster has garnered very mixed reviews.

I would love to see the original cut of Ashes of Time on Region A BluRay...

I have the Hong Kong blu and I enjoy it. I'm looking forward to seeing the recut version in theatres later this year.

Hmmm...I'm a big WKW fan, but I figure I'll just wait until it hits theaters in August.

Was Christopher Doyle' presence missed? Because those trailers made it look very washed out.

Oh man has it been rainy up here. Picking up a few packages after work with some blu's in them what to watch tonight: 3:10 To Yuma, Heaven's Gate, Ivan's Childhood, On the Waterfront, Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, or the one non-Criterion in the group Seven-Percent Solution.

Suggestions?
