Seen + own heavenly creatures. Love it. One of my favourites. I'll have to check out the others though. Chances are they've already seen or heard of them though. Thanks for the recommendations

Wow I had no idea I need to go back and re-watch the movie regardless but will pay attention to these parts. That's really silly that he did that after the theatrical version didn't have it blurred. Lynch is a weird fella.

If Mulholland Drive is released in Criterion it's going to be in my top 5 Criterions for sure.
Oh shoot! Yes, I forgot about The Proposition. One of my favorite films in fact. I have the blu-ray of this movie. The main reason is of course that Nick Cave wrote the screenplay and the score. It's such a bloody and violent film but so powerful all the same.

Honestly, I thought David Lynch boycotted the Criterion Collection? I never expected him to cooperate with Criterion ever. It truly appears that Mulholland Drive is coming to Criterion, and that means I'm not actually dreaming in one of David Lynch's films! YES!

Thanks for the recommendations! I will check out those bands too.

It's not that weird. I don't think having individual frames plastered all over celebrity spank sites was part of the original plan.

Then re-frame it or use an alternate take for crying out loud.

Although I will say the blurring isn't so noticeable if you watch it on a phone.

Isn't it unnoticable at normal contrast/brightness levels though? I seem to recall an article mentioning that grabs had to be manipulated to bring out pornworthy detail.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

I don't know how noticeable the unedited version of it was, but I remember being baffled by the blur it back when I saw it on dvd.

I watched the Studio Canal blu a few months back and while it lasts it is not well done. Maybe the CC will clean it up a bit? That would actually be really nice, although I don't know how much I think the movie is worth a double dip, in my case.

Agreed with this. Dumping FWWM as 'just an extra' would be asinine unless it was a part of a 'Twin Peaks' universe ultimate set or something like that, with all of its extras as well.

I find FWWM to be a sort of sister film to Blue Velvet, as it traverses the same territory and themes from a female perspective: like darkness in a placid setting, and sexual voyeurism and awakening.

--------

The crotch-blur on Mulholland Dr.: Lynch did it as a favor to Laura Elena Harring, due to snapshot-grabbing largely. I know blah-blah censorship, but it lasts for the smaller side of a second and is by no means a focus of the scene.

Holy cow! I just saw the announcement. Time to retire my German Concorde BluRay.

I really hope The Straight Story is part of the deal too

Any others besides Eraserhead? Maybe Lost Highway??

Thanks, pro-b.

EDIT: Nevermind...saw your other post!!
Can someone please explain why everyone is taking the fact that Criterion reposted someone else's tumbler image means they are releasing the film? They do this on an almost daily basis with things they think are cool, and rarely do they have anything to do with their own upcoming releases. Heck, a few days ago they posted an image from Clockwork Orange, and the internet didn't decide they were releasing that.

I would be thrilled if it were true, but I am not sure what evidence people are basing the speculation on.

It's not real until the cover art shows up in the mid-month announcements.

That's my take on the David Lynch excitement.

Yes. Yes, they are.

I read it but can't find the link. Or Tito told me while I was getting my Brazilian wax. Either way, it's true.
