I watched Alfred Hitchcock's Saboteur last night from Blu-ray set. Awesome, as always.

...and we really need Foreign Correspondent released by Criterion in November. Can I get a witness?

If Criterion does put out Le Samouraï in November, I hope they have a new cover for it. It needs it.

And the cover for the supposed Mulholland Dr. release has a lot of potential.

Ahh, can't wait 'til Thursday.

I've always liked the cover myself.



I used this Le Samouraï cover as my avatar for years while I was on another message board. When I joined Blu-ray.com last year, though, I realized to my dismay that about a million people here already use the same image for their avatars.

It's fine, but I think they can do a lot better. Kind of like the new Rashomon cover, though I'm told I'm in the minority on that one .

Love the Rashomon one too! Le Samourai is such a gorgeous looking movie--nearly any still would be awesome as a cover.

That would be great, the picture quality on the Image release looks atrocious.

Yeah, with some films, all you need is a still and the cover would be great.

Yeah, they sell out instantly. I had tweetdeck open to make sure I got them as soon as they went on sale. Now people will put them up on eBay for hundreds of dollars..

How current is that message on the first page about replacement cases for digipacks, etc? I wouldn't mind getting a standard case for The Last Emperor, are they the same style as their usual cases, complete with artwork, inserts, etc?

i was thinkingn about getting the new release to see if it was better, but i think i saw it was Region locked. Anyone confrimed this?

yes. sames cases, same cover style. you can order them at the criterion shop. i did the same to replace that ugly digicase thing

I've been missing in action the last few days as I've been recovering from severe food poisoning, but I see I missed a bunch of stuff on sci fi films. I just watched Things to Come a few nights ago and the supplements the following night and I couldn't really stand the audio commentary (finally, around 20 minutes in the film, Mr. Kalat actually started talking about what was going on, on-screen, after a brief biography/history of H.G. Wells). His commentary is a bit too polished (and he did a superb job with that) and felt like he was reading from a pre-written essay about the film. I did like the "design" supplement by Christopher Frayling on Things to Come quite a bit though and found that to be an amazing interview as well.
