Of course, now we're just going to encourage you to buy the DVDs so that they'll announce Blu-ray releases.

Kwaidan is one that I'd badly like to see on Blu. Same with The Human Condition, which Criterion released in a single set on DVD (I never picked this up because I had the original three separate Image/Janus DVDs).

Shooting from the hip here, but any of these would be nice additions to the Criterion library:
Trans-Europ-Express
Y Tu Mama Tambien
The Sweet Hereafter
Buena Vista Social Club
Heima - Sigur Ros
The Mother and the *****
The Big Blue
Children of Nature
Breaking the Waves

This is a sweet list!

Add Le Samouraï and The Vanishing in there, and I'm all over it.

I've been following Criterion for a few years now, and checking their announcements as they post them on Facebook and such. When I joined Blu-ray.com in late 2012, though, it really put a smile on my face to see all of the excitement and discussion around the big date every month. I like seeing everyone's wish lists, and I like reading the reactions the actual announcements. There are a lot of Criterion titles that never even register a blip on my own radar (the Satyajit Ray films, for instance), but I'm always compelled to research them online after seeing how many serious cinephiles are excited about those announcements.

I wish Criterion would do something totally different and just announce the titles like, right at midnight. It would save a lot of the waiting.

Dare to be different Criterion!

I've never seen Heima, but I would not mind checking it out someday.

I have Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun on CD, but I have not listened to it in a couple of years. I might have to shake the dust off that disc soon.

If we're talking music films, I'd really like to see Depeche Mode - 101 released on a Criterion Blu-ray. 101, directed by D. A. Pennebaker, follows Depeche Mode and a group of their fans across the country during their Music for the Masses tour in 1988. The film was reportedly a primary influence on MTV's The Real World series. In other words, 101 kickstarted reality television, for better or for worse. It would be a good Criterion title from a historian perspective.

Most wanted Criterion Concert?

Aimee Mann: Live at St. Ann's Warehouse

If they could dig up a late era Til Tuedsay live recording, that would be equally phenomenal.

Tomorrow I'm hoping for any of these titles...

New spines:
ERASERHEAD
A BRIGHTER SUMMER DAY
Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN
NASHVILLE
BARTON FINK
SCANNERS
THE BROOD
THIEF
THE TENANT

Upgrades/reissues:
THRONE OF BLOOD or IKIRU or THE HIDDEN FORTRESS (Any Kurosawa really)
THE VANISHING
PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK
LE SAMOURAI
ANDREI RUBLEV
INSOMNIA
PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC
ACE IN THE HOLE

I'm praying also for eraserhead and scanners to be announced tomorrow!

Just saw Le Havre. Pretty good small flick, Enjoyable movie check it out.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I didn't think y tu mama tambien was all that great... And I'm a huge Spanish film fan. I own many almodovar movies (where's his criterion!?!) or motorcycle diaries or central station would be cool additions. Even intacto/open your eyes/amores perros/thesis they all need upgrades bad.

I'm a big fan of the first Til Tuesday album. Good old middle school memories. All of their albums were pretty amazing, though.

This sounds great. I just bought DD's concert BD and they still sound excellent live. I am down for any concert films that Criterion wants to add to the collection. Monterey Pop and Gimme Shelter are feeling lonely.
