This just popped into my mind after seeing someone's Godzilla avatar from another thread...

Imagine if Criterion compiled a massive box set of all the Godzilla sequels, in the same fashion as the Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman box set.

Mwahahaha.

My God, that would be ever so awesome.

I think I just peed a little. That would really be an AMAZING box set. But as I think about it, how would it work? How would we want it to work?

What I'm thinking is would it just contain the acutal Toho Godzilla films, or would it include any of the movies that contain Godzilla, but weren'tr sequels. Or, would just a Toho Monster Set be worth it? I'd love either... just afraid of how much a massive collection like that would cost.

The first 15 Godzilla films would make the most sense I think.

No The Return of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985)? I kind of liked it.

And expensive. For some reason I thought the Mysterians was something Criterion had...Id be open to any of the Kaiju films (even Dogora the Space Monster ! )

I was wondering with the Godzilla film coming out next year that we might get the remaining films on blu-ray, either in a giant box set or separately. It needs to happen!

Speaking of box sets, I'd really love to see a Bunuel or Rohmer (Six Moral Tales) box-set released. Not mentioning The Lynch box which would also be a no-brainer for me.

Ideally, everything even remotely associated with Godzilla, including the Hanna-Barbera animated cartoons from the late 1970s.

No way on Earth that such a thing would ever appear on Criterion, though, so I'd be happy just to see the Toho Godzilla films in one place.

Just thought I'd let the folks here know that Melville's debut film "Le Silence de la mer", released by Eureka in the UK is only 9.99 GBP shipped (around $16) right now through their site. It's completely region free, unlike most of their other releases. They have several other 9.99 movies, but they are Region B

Everyone who does not yet own this Blu-ray should jump on this. Le Silence De La Mer is a brilliant Melville film that describes another angle to the French Resistance.

Thanks for the tip. Really, it seems like you can't go wrong with Melville.

Hi everyone – I’m pretty new to this site, so I actually know nothing about Criterion’s “announcement day,” but you can count me in as one who is now swept up in the fever.
The title that would make me happier than any other is “Y Tu Mama Tambien.” Not sure there’s a lot of love for that film around here, but it’s one of my favorites of this century.

Speaking of box sets, if I someone ever finds the Director's Cut of Greed, I hope they'd give it to Criterion so they could polish it up, and make a huge-gi-normious box set. The track-list for the BD is as follows:
Discs 1 & 2: The Directors Cut (Time: 7 and a half hours )
Disc 3: The TCM Cut (Time: 4 Hours)
Disc 4: Theatrical Cut (2 and a half hours) + bonus material
Disc 5: Supplements
For the DVD:
Discs 1-3: Directors Cut
Discs 4 & 5: TCM Cut
Disc 6: Theatrical Cut
Disc 7: Bonus Disc
This will probably never happen, but if it did

Hi, welcome to the site! I'm sure you'll like it here, it's one of my personal favorites.
I can see Y Tu Mama Tambien getting a release. It would be really cool to have that, but the title I want to see the most is Tootsie. It probably won't happen, but it'd be awesome to see.
