City Lights and The Gold Rush feature the tramp character for which Chaplin is best known, but if you want to experiment a bit, I suggest swapping one of them (maybe City Lights, because Gold Rush is more spectacular) for Monsieur Verdoux where he plays a Bluebeard. That film has some of the best written dialog.

I've been pondering. I see Amazon is having a lightning deal for two Criterion films. The Last Emperor, and Anatomy of a Murder for $16.49 and $17.59, respectively.

Should I buy them now, or wait until B&N's next sale in July?

Yes, those would be the two to get first. If THE KID were available in HD (and in the original longer cut now only available on the oop Image DVD), I'd substitute that for one or the other, but for now I'd start with THE GOLD RUSH and then CITY LIGHTS.

What would he be like as an adult, old enough to get a job, a wife/gf, etc. I felt he should've stayed at the camp, gone to the labor center or where ever, picked up a trade, honed his skill, get a job, maybe a wife and kids and forget about his childhood. Of course, following a straight path isn't his forte, so it makes sense he would run away, looking for his own way in life.
That's what the four sequels are for!

I'd echo the sentiment of city lights and the gold rush... But I'd there a reason you left modern times off the list?

I usually wait for the CC website sale to earn the loyalty points.

The next flash sale is 2/14 (or around there, correct)?

I'm not sure, but don't you have to pay extra for shipping on any orders less than $35, even on the lightning deals? That extra shipping charge is making me hesitate on buying many things from Amazon anymore.
